Hey folks, here are a few pics I took of my marines.

I call them The Crimson Crusaders.

I've been at them for a few years, off and on, its maily a winter hobby, given the cold wet british winters.
I started with the black reach set and added to that.

A few of the early models need touching up as I changed the ccolour scheme slightly.

Any feedback or pointers are welcome.

I'm not too sure about the rules of 40k as i dont play I just about find the time to paint.

Those are very nice, but you could maybe give them a wash. Baal red maybe.

I use devlan mud, over red base coat, i use a hair dryer to speed up the drying times.
Also tried some of the forge world weathering powders, but they are hard to control over small areas, so i found anyway.

Nice, but the AMs should have the vents on their jump packs drybrushed, methinks!

To get the scratches I usually use a small piece of foam/sponge and dab or drag boltgun metal on the desired area, i think it give unusual and more natural chips and scratches.

Heres one of the drop pod, i've been looking for a quick alternative for the drop pod, as a sort of stand in, i've tried it with a few items, i'll post some pics when they are painted.

nice tones and shading, but are the eyes painted? Doesnt look like it to me and it would make them stand out way more if you did. Keep up the good work!

Maybe it's the light, but they seem a bit flat. I'd go back over them with a darker wash.

And if you really want to take it up a notch, start highlighting the edges of everything. Really will make them pop a lot more.

I highlight using blood red, or a mix of blood red and a flesh tone, its hard as pink is a natural highlight of red and i dont really want pink highlights.

The eyes are painted green, but I do admit i struggle with eyes!
