This is my first attempt at a WoC list, I've been away from the game for a while. There's a 2k point tourney at the local GW store in March and I was thinking about fielding the following:

I'm wondering if the 15 warrior unit with halberds needs some beefing up (possibly getting shields for some shooting protection), I'm also wondering if the marauders should be run with shields to take advantage of Tzeentch-parry or left with some hitting power. I'm not sure what I'd drop to make any of these fit, the knights?

Open to all suggestions except detzeentching the army or adding a Hellcannon (I really don't like them for some reason)!

EDIT: As for lores I'll probably take Tzeentch on the level 4 and either Fire or Shadow for the Level 2.

Your bsb cost is off the sword costs 30 points check the woc army book. We have to use those prices.
You may want to kit him out more for defence or offence but you have to choose either or because half adding both will not do much. Chaos heroes are pretty strong as is and can usually give the lords of other races a run for their money. Don't be affraid to kit him out he will do your army lots of good, that is what I have learned from experience.

I would get more marauders they work better in 40+ in a unit. With mot might as well give em shields and run them 5 wide so they can hold up units.

Personally I have found that the halberd and flaming banner need a bit of help from a hero since they are not super Killy and I apparently can't roll to hit and to wound haha.

The shield warriors I would give the rapturous standard. It is cheaper and oh so effective.

Unfortunatly the casters are both tz marked so they both have to take lore of tz.
To get around this you could give the lvl2 third eye of tz so he can use your opponents spells.

Any shooting army will curse those knights it is quite funny.

So a little reworking netted me the extra marauders. I moved the enchanted shield from the sorc lord to the BSB and dropped the power familiar. I shifted the BSB from the shield warrior unit to the halberd warrior unit. Everything about WoC is so expensive!

This should make the halberds a bit more of a "hammer" unit. I lose some items from my sorcerers but they should still be survivable and dish out serious damage. I thought about the 3rd Eye, but I figure for the points and at 2k, lore of TZ still at least gets me a magic missle and a utility spell, so it should work alright, I think at higher points I'll have the 3rd Eye on there (probably another sorcerer too).

I like your new list and think the banners are good choices. I would do things slightly differently though. My two warrior units would look something like:

18x Chaos Warrior -
MoT
Halberds
FC
Banner of Rage

Deployed 6x3, this unit has frenzy that it cannot lose, giving it 24 str 5 attacks without including the champion's extra attack. That's enough to make a mess of just about anything. A really good "hammer" unit.


15x Chaos Warrior
MoT
Shields
FC
Banner of Eternal Flame

Deployed 5x3, this is a really good anvil unit. The flaming banner adds some versatility.

If you have points left over you could increase either unit, but those are the minimums I would take.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

Just thinking that most things that have regen are monsters and tougher things as in toughness 5 or 6.
So if you are str 4 you wound on 5s and 6s and it usually gets to step on you which means you only get a 6+ ward against a high str attacks that automatically hit.
Why not give them halberds as well? That way they have a good save against bows and such and shooting . In the fight they would loose an armor save, but gain the fact that you wounds on 4's 5's and 6's which helps a ton.
This way it is not too difficult to say kill a hydra or at least get it down to one wound left.
The banner also causes fear in beast and cav if I am not mistaken this making it easy to deal with cav because of the higher str and the possibility of fear giving them an advantage. These guys will also knock off some attacks from knights because most armies knights will be initiative 3 or 4. This could save you some high str attacks back.
So saying the best defense is a good defense
Point being the flaming banner is very effective with halberds.
