Looking forward to this quite a bit. I've seen the Warrior one (as its the fella that usually I'm usually competing with for Dwarfs placings in the Texas tourneys).
Hadn't seen Cap's Skaven report, but enjoying it too. I played him Game 1 at Bayou last year, and he's a really great guy to play against. Casual, relaxed, but very good.

Another great year up in Fayetteville, my 3rd trip and first not taking Lizards. Took a modified version of the Daemon list I took to Alamo, just a few changes and it did quite well. Ended up 3-0-2 overall, 3rd best general, and 4th overall. CAWS had a great showing taking 1st and 3rd general, 3rd sports, and more than a few Best Of army.
Keeper of Secrets
Spirit Swallower
Herald of Khorne
BSB, firestorm blade, 3+ armor save
-2 ld banner
Herald of Slaneesh
Siren Song
Herald of Tzeench
Scroll, lore master: metal
35 bloodletter, full command, + d6 charge banner
35 Daemonettes, muso, banner, siren standard
20 horrors, muso, banner, +1 cast banner
3 fiends
5 furies
Game 1
I got paired up against a fellow CAWS guy who has been playing for a bit, but was playing with an Orc army that he was still getting the hang of the finer points. The house basically split my deployment zone in half and I chose to overload the right side of the table, using the house to hide the Keeper from the first turn of shooting. What you see of his set up is, left to right, rock lobber, savage orcs, 50 night goblins with spears 2 fanatics bsb, Black Orcs with General, night gobbos with bows and 2 fantatics, wolf chariot, doom diver, and out front 2 mangler squigs
Picture is taken top of 2 after charges.
Turn 1
I moved up on the right side intending to Siren song the shooty gobbos, but they squabbled, made him burn a scroll on transmutation targeting his black orcs. He moved up and repositioned several units, shot at a few things, no wounds on the Keeper.
Turn2
Charged the keeper into the black orcs, daemonettes moved to charge the gobbos next turn and moved the letters up. The daemonettes pop the song bottom of 2 won and chased them into the black orcs. Then the keeper and the daemonettes broke the black orcs and the other gobbos panic’d. Used the fiends and furies to get into the rock lobba on the left side. Called it bottom of 4 when all he had left was savage orcs. 20-4, me.
Game 2
Played a guy from North West Arkansas, who also got 20pts game 1. He was playing Skaven: cannon on my far left, doomwheel, slaves, abom, slaves, 20 monks with 2 priests, huge clan rat unit with bell on far right. I set up across from the bell unit with my troop units and keeper, putting the furies and fiends on my far left.
I overloaded the right flank again, putting a los blocking piece of terrain between the Keeper and the cannon, but ready to charge the bell asap. Plan was to ball in there turn 2, destroy the bell top of 3 when the daemonettes piled in to break ranks. Keep the bloodletters with the flaming sword blocking the abom. Had it all set up and thought I’d thin the bell unit out with transmutation (was really looking to draw out some dice). Total Powered it on 4 dice, managed to kill off like 30 clan rats, then rolled for the characters, got the BSB, Bell, and Grey Seer (rolled for both the seer and bell didn’t know they were considered single model). The unit panicked and fled off the board. So 1000pts up and the rest was mop up. Not much he could do after that with the keeper and 3 big units of daemons bearing down on him, called it after 3. 19-4.
more to come soon

Game 3
Against another CAWS guy who is an amazing painter, and player. He was playing a very unconventional DE list, Lord on a black Dragon with the black dragon egg and the pendant. A hero on a peg with the pendant that reduces all incoming shooting to st5, lvl 4 metal, 2 hydras, 40 spears, 30 crossbows, cauldron, 2x5 harpies and 6 shades.
We were playing on battle for the pass scenario and having playtested against each other we were a bit hesitant to engage in non-optimal combats. I offered to take 10pt draws, buy some beer and go heckle everyone else, he said no.
We cast final transmute at each other for 4 turns, I charged in bottom of 5, he wiped the bloodletters and I got a hydra A character and a few other things. We got a 10pt draw then went and drank.

Game 4
This was the first game of day 2, and was against a guy I met at Alamo, but whom has quickly become a good buddy and is most definitely a great player, and whose battle report you can find in the above post over at under empire. We thought that he was going to be playing one of the CAWS guys as we had a few of us in the top 5, so we sent one of our fellow members out the night before on operation “poison the well”. After a very long night they showed up just a hair late, but after a 5hr energy Cap was ready to roll and I knew I had a tough game ahead of me.
This mission was diagonal deployment and we set up 12” apart. On the far left Cap set up both his cannons on a hill, clan rats with seer, clan rats with warlord, bsb, then a big unit of slaves. In front of the 2 clan rat units he set up 2 units of slaves, then the A-bom, and plague monks, had 2 units of gutter runners protecting the cannons.
I set up furies across from the cannons, then used a house to set up the Keeper out of sight of the cannons, then bloodletters, daemonettes, horrors behind them and fiends on the far right.
This pictures is Bottom of 1
I got first turn and declared a charge on the A-bom with the letters, and on some slaves with the daemonettes (making them cross paths), they both made it however with the depth of the letters it was not possible for the daemonettes to make their charge and they were stuck. I moved the furies up to threaten the cannons, and keep the gutter runners occupied, moved the Keeper up behind the house and safe from the cannons but facing the flank of his army, moved the fiends around a hill to begin threatening that flank. The letters did 4 wounds to the A-bomb (not odds) and took 3 (I was so scared) in return. Magic did very little and then it was Cap’s turn
As you can see I had my flank to the plague monks that could see me around the hill (mistake on my part) and charge my flank, I tried to flee but Cap would have none of that. He moved up most of his units, repositioning a bit and waiting. His magic was minimal, and the plague monks killed/popped all but 14 of the daemonettes. The Letters finished off the A-bom and caused a rat dart to flee towards the fiends.
Turn 2
The Keeper charged the flank of his Seer’s unit, the letters charged into a slave block, and the horrors repositioned and the fiends charged the fleeing rat dart but didn’t catch it. Magic does nothing, Keeper does like 11 wounds the unit is steadfast, bloodletters do 8 or so unit sticks, daemonettes are popped by the monks. Letters reform to face the monks in case of a charge.
Cap charges the monks into the horrors not the letters and debated on charging his generals unit into the rear of the letters but decided not to. Keeper did another amazing 11 wounds, letters 8 or so, and the monks only 3-4 to the horrors (love a 4+ ward). The letters reform to face the slaves.
Turn 3
Fiends make a 17” charge into the rear of the monks to perhaps save the day, and placing all my units in combat. The Keeper does another amazing 10 wounds bringing the seers unit below 3 ranks and with the -2ld banner they break, run are caught by the Keeper who overruns into the flank of the generals unit. The letters break the slaves and turn to face the generals unit. Horrors loose 2-3 and the fiends kill like 8.
Things aren’t looking good for Cap, no movement or magic really. Keeper is challenged by the unit champ and accepts, wining but the rats hold on ld10. Monks are getting dangerously low on models.
Turn 4
Letters charge into the generals unit, and his general challenges, my unit champ accepts. I handedly win combat and the unit breaks. The monks are destroyed.
Cap took 1 turn of shooting at the keeper to see if he could kill him before I hid him behind the building and his cannons just didn’t give him the love.
It was an absolutely amazing, back and forth game. The battle report can’t even being to communicate the anguish that went into each decision, and the horror felt when the monks hit the daemonettes (I thought I’d lost it) and when the seer unit fled. Cap got my best game vote, and ended up with Best Sports at the tourney. I see he did quite well at Lone Wolf last weekend as well, can’t wait for Bayou.

I recognized that A&M shirt! Really great opponent. I'm proud to say "Cap" used my bloody corpse as the first of his stepping stones up to Best Overall at last year's Bayou Battles.
That monk unit ate my lunch too. Crazy battles when you deploy 12" apart...

Game 5 (only 6 weeks later)
Well game 5 I was playing on table 1 for top spot against a great guy from KC and his 4-0 ogre list. The scenario left no room for error as each player had to select one character and one unit in their opponents army, if BOTH of those unit weren't dead at the end of the game then only a draw was possible. I chose his BSB and maneaters (since the bsb was in that unit and i had to deal with them or loose anyway). I think he chose my keeper and maybe my furies.
His list was fairly standard
lvl4 maw, forbidden rod, 4+ward
lvl2 firebelly, scroll
bsb
8 iron guts
8 bulls
8 maneaters (poison, sniper)
3 yhetees
iron blaster
4 2+ save mournfang with dragonhide banner
A tough list that has the magic and shooting to handle all my little tricks and the keeper.
Bottom of turn 2
The statue in the middle of the board made any unit that came within 6" of it roll a d6, and on a 6 that unit couldn't move further/that turn. This little beauty kept the mournfang out of the flank of my bloodletters one turn.
Turn one saw me hide the keeper from the cannon/maneaters and keep the daemonettes out of range as well, but position them to max march next turn and siren song the maneaters towards me. Magic did almost nothing and his cannon I think killed a bloodletter or 2.
Turn 2, he positioned his maneaters, facing the inevitable, and brought his 2 big ogre units around my left flank. I moved the daemonettes up to 17 inches, moved the keeper out to see the flank be in the flank next turn along with the fiends. Cast some metal magic at the mournfang, did very little (I honestly thought they'd be gone in short order)
Turn 3, Siren song the maneaters, they move forward 4 inches. The cannon shoots and does 3 wounds to the Keeper, and Either this turn or next his lvl 4 gets sucked into the warp (made me sweat a bit less) and this is the turn that the mournfang coudn't moved and it saved my bacon I think. Moved the keeper up to flank the maneaters next turn while they take the daemonettes in the front. Charge into his ogres with my bloodletters, and get into combat, win but they stay.
Turn4: More combat, he brings his ironguts to bear along with the yhetees and the cannon misfires saving the Keeper, and the mournfang charge the horrors. I charge the flank of the maneaters handily winning combat and chasing them down, though the daemonettes are at like 6 models. The bsb foolishly accepts a challenge from the firebelly (forgot about his breatweapon and 4+ ward) and eats it. still tied up in the middle and the mournfang continue to destroy the horrors
Turn 5: Continued combat the horrors are destroyed and the ogres in the middle are all finished up. I moved the keeper and daemonettes to protect them since I can't get to the cannon adn just try to live one more round of shooting.
Turn6: He shoots at the keeper with the cannon rolling a 1 to wound and we call it. I lost my fiends, furies and horrors he had his mournfang, cannon, and yhettees left.
Now for the fun part, we were looking over the the scenario for bonus points etc... and as I looked over the units I wrote down to destroy I saw BSB and not Maneaters but Mournfang! Becasue I'm obviously slowed and had mournfang on the brain I wrote down the wrong unit. It ended up causing me to get a draw and costing me 2nd over all and first general. Ended up 3rd general instead and tied for 4th.
It was a great tournament, 5 great games (sunday was awesome) and I can't wait till next year where I vow to double check everything I write down.
Now time for the the BugEater in Omaha.
