clippers, hobby knife, file or blow torch, rotary saw or wrecking ball. Nose around for some articles specifically geared to assembly.

Please do not use a blow torch, rotary saw or wrecking ball on your models.

I tend to use files to keep from cutting myself. If you use a hobby knife you can gently scrape with the blade rather than try and cut with it. You're less likely to carve off big chunks of the mini.

Back when I got into this, there was no internet and needle files weren't available locally. I learned to do it with a hobby knife. This is probably not the best way to do it (you'll go through blades much more quickly, for one thing) but I'm comfortable with it and it works. It's also convenient - no need to put the knife down and switch to another tool. Carefully shave off what you can, then reverse the blade and slowly scrape at the remainder with the edge. Vary the pressure and angle to prevent flat spots and chatter marks.

Seam scraper, works much like the scraping a knife along it BUT with less chance of accidentally cutting into the mini.

The AOBR Marines are a pain, moldline wise. Get the most obvious parts with your hobby knife and file down the rest.

But be careful. I wanted to take a shortcut and take it all away with my knife and ended with pretty badly sawn up shoulderpads.

Try using a sharp knife blade at 90 degrees to the mini, it shaves off flash without cutting the mini itself

notwithstanding all of the "just use your knife" responses, i sincerely insist you invest in a set of files for the long run. there are usually about 6 different ones, i get by on two, but you should get the whole set. you should be able to get one for ~$10. not sure what the currency exchange is on that
