Subject: AI-collectables, Bad service and turnaround times!
I ordered a grey knights army in april last year and is still not done! They don't reply to my emails.
I got approval pics in january but the vehicles where just sprayed silver and some black shade done with an airbrush no details picked out.
So that's a Rhino, Landraider, two dreadknights and two Stormravens just plain silver and I waited over 9 months for that!? I told AIC that I didn't approve the vehicles still have to get a reply on that.(waiting for over a month now)
Again the models look good but the vehicles are missing a lot of details like heraldry on the sides.
Take a look at the pics to get an idea.
AIC's service is terrible and I wished I never placed an order there!
My tip thinking of AIC to get your army done just think again and don't do it!
Still nothing!

I also ordered Ghost Knights.
The idea was to get them painted normally and give them a green glow with the airbrush.
Instead they just painted the Ghost Knights green overall now they look like Knights made out of green stuff!

Hello everyone! Thanks again to all our clients these past months as we've gone through some major changes with our painting service and website design. 2012 brings forth our new business structure which features more products, more events, and a better service to our clients.
AI Collectibles has seen a major increase in painting commissions over the past months. So much so that our deadlines are being far surpassed by the workload. Until further notice, we have suspended our commission service until our past commissions have been completed. To help with the overflow of commissions, we've found a select number of local artists that can match AIC's painting standards. Due to the outsourcing of commissions, we're currently out of the studio and continuing to manage our new business structure. We will be stopping into the studio, only to photograph, film, and ship out orders.
Our new structure for commissions has changed. We will continue to sell painted armies and single models, but only in our online store. This will allow our turnarounds to be more controlled and for clients to still have a great selection of products, without having to wait.
Thank you for your continued patience and support, looking forward to the new year!
-AIC
Yep i see them now, op edited it

Seems to me that there is very little wrong with AIC...only problem is maybe due to their backlog of commissions they weren't able to contact you about your models?
I'm sure the pictures you saw were wip's

That was supposed to be the finished product that I didn't approve of. Waiting for over a month on a reply on that.
9 months of waiting and this is the result!

Yikes, if thats the finished product, its really bad.
Looks like they bite off more than they can chew for taking in the commissions.
You have to force them to finish yours or else they probably would prioritize others over yours ( since they consider yours finished )
post your info on their videos and their youtube channel is the best way.
April till July was the time to finish the army.
They changed studios in August and they lost an artist in October. But my army should have been done by then and shouldn't be delayed because of that.
And if you got a costumer who has been waiting for almost a year he should have some sort of priority I guess?
O and I already payed everything in April.

I agree with you, morally that is how it should be.
But business wise, they are trying to knock off as much order as they can first.
As I said, they considered yours done.
Thx for the tips LunaHound.
I'm gone keep trying to contact AIC on the status of my army.

Lazy Lizard, i just had some guys get finished from AIC collectibles while they were switching studios and such. Yes, it took them a month to finish a lemartes and dante, but the reason was that Anthony Morones, owner of AI collectibles, had a major hdd failure in his computer and all email that had been sent to that specific email account could not be viewed by him. Now it took me calling and nagging to put some fire under their asses but I got the models. I understand your frustration, but just give them a call and I am sure you can work the issue out. Here are picture of how the two minis turned out that I had painted.

Apart from the turnaround time, there seems to be little wrong with AIC. In the pictures you linked to on Flickr, the vehicles do indeed seem under-detailed, but compared to the fantastically finished infantry, they surely must be WiPs?
Also, as has been pointed out above, the Land Raider that can be seen on the AIC home-page looks brilliant, far more detailed than on Flickr... assuming that is your army?
As a side note, most of the pages on their website currently say "Info available February 1st...", which is slightly odd... one can only assume that the owner is as far behind with his website design as he apparently is with his commissions.
As Wettrain says, direct communication is the best way to resolve the situation now. Call him up, be polite, and try to reach an understanding with the owner.
Best of luck,
Martin

It's great how we can all see his army on AIC's website but they're still holding it hostage for 9 months for some reason (I'm assuming he still doesn't have what he paid for).
Sad.
Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

As the owner of a commission service this rings alarm bells a bit as does the lack of email communication. Commission painting is a very trust based business and requiring full payment before the work is completed and approved doesn't leave clients with much security. Similarly prompt communication is also key and their really isn't an excuse for not replying to a client for months at a time.
Though hopefully this is just a hiccup with their business (albeit a long one) and I wish you the best of luck with getting the army you've paid for.

I call BS on that email loss. First, they haven't replied at all to Lazy-Lizards current emails, which means they're just bad at keeping up communication with their clients. Second, unless you can clarify that the computer was a server hosting his emails, he can still have access to those emails if his personal computer died. You can always access your gmail or other public email account anywhere, and if he had a personal email for aicollectibles site (for example, contact@aicollectibles.com), then his emails are all stored on the server. Unless he downloaded them directly to his PC and removed it from the servers, which is then just really stupid.
"Not having access to email" is a poor excuse used when you're bad at keeping up communications with clients. It's used on people who wouldn't have the "technical" understanding of how the Internets works.

Wonder if the new painter they hired was the Painting Apothecary? Seriously, contact your credit-card company - these guys are incompetent/crooks/combination of the two.
