The cloaks look okay, although for my money I think I'd like them to go over the vents on the back. Not tactically sound, but more aesthetically pleasing. They look just fine though. Good sculpt, good paint job. Did you do any custom work on the demon hammer?

Thanks mate.

I was considering going for a fuller cloak, covering the vents and possibly with an unworn hood, but in the end took inspiration from Draigo's cloak which hangs just below the vents.

The hammer is standard, I just liked the way the blending and gloss varnish have worked out

Sorry to be the downer, but they look like...well painted green putty to me. They are just too thick. They flow like they are made of 6 inch thick rubber. The flow needs to be more subtle, and their edges more defined. There is a real sense of dissonance between the front cloaks, which are hanging and gently rippling, and the rear cloaks, which look like they are in a hurricane.

I think you might want to consider cloak making to be a 2 part process:
1) you create the cloaks base
This is basically what you have done here, though I think the folds are a bit over the top.
2) you create the cloaks detail.
So once the cloaks base dries you get more green putty and sculpt in the details. The wrinkles, bunches, and ripples. Once everything is dry you can go back and use an hobby knife to give it more defined edges.

It is like when you sculpt a mini (or anything really) from scratch, you don't just start sculpting the mini whole, you first make an armature (like a skelliton, or in your case, the original mini), then a base body (what you have here) then finally details and clothes on top of that.

Sculpting should almost always be a multi-step process.

Very good for a first time with GS.

What REALLY impresses me is the head on the demon hammer (especially) and the blades on the halberds. I am in love with those super high contrasts with the extremely dark and light blues. Usually when people paint "energy" weapons it's not as high contrast, but for some reason your work makes the thing look more... dangerous. There is this intense vortex of energy that will just mess you up if were hit by it, instead of just a normal warhammer that happens to have LED blue glow. Huge inspiration for when I eventually get to painting my marines.

Cheers all!

Fleetofclaw, I got the basic idea for those force weapons from a very good video on youtube where a guy blends a nemesis greatsword with an airbrush. Not having an airbrush, I figured I'd give it a try with stippling and it actually turned out pretty well. I finished them off with a generously thick layer of gloss varnish which gives some depth and a nice glassy effect.
