Imperial Recruit in Training

Hello again, Dakka. Here is an Imperial Guard army, with a very rag-tag, Post-Apoc feel. They are based off of Paul von Lettow Vorbeck, a German general from WW1, who fought at Tanzania. He led a very small, very outnumbered force to victory against allied forces. What made him so special? he was so outmatched, even his superiors told him to back down. So he did what any sensible man would: wage his own, fanatical war against the British. Using guerrilla tactics and cobbled together weaponry, he fought for 4 years, of which consisted of many hit and run raids and sabatodge. When all was said and done, he had successfully lead a non-defeated campaign into Britain, surpassing his peers, who hadn't even made it to Britain!

With that in mind, I started working on some minis. Unfortunately, most of my models had been built before I'd found the inspiration! While the more recent models look more battered, there are many boring old Cadians in the mix.

Without further to do, let's get started!

An oveview of my force.

My PCS, with my yet-to-be-named leader, standing in for Al-Raheem.

A close up look at him. I think he may be one of my favorite minis, though his head had a nasty incedint with some modelling glue. might replace it with a more grizzled head later on.

2 priests, who I will use to represent the ferocity the warriors fight with. Also, I have named the second one Ash, before you ask.

Next up is commander Hellion, the shotgun toting C.O of my vets in valks squad. another favorite, he gives me the impression of calmness in battle, casually lobbing a grenade while barking some orders.

His team, with many shotguns for coolness. please ignore the greenstuff on the melta guy, my first attempt at a GS helmet went... poorly

My Marbo, rigging up a charge. The thing on the lascarbine is the detonator.

A squad of former civillians, including some feudal hunters and miners. Also, there are some former mercenaries, armed with autoguns, and a jerrycan of flammable fun!

Mercenary warlord Navarro, pointing the civvies weapons in the right direction!

A very button up squad, can you tell they came early on?

Another bunch of well-kept troops, but one does sport the color scheme I will use for the final force!

A close up of the colorscheme I will use. Didn't think dark green and shiny blue would go so well together!

A band of underhive gangers, Rather well equipped though, aren't they?

Leader of the streegang, called the Wolfpack. Why?

Because I fight a Smurf player, he lets me have the spare SW decals. I thought they looked rather gangeresque, and They have become gang heraldry.

I always worry about Nurgle players. When you tell them "Your models make me want to vomit" they just smile and say "thanks"

Looks good so far, i love the story of vorbeck irl, from a survival perspective his forces far outstripped the allied forces. IIRC he trained most of his troops how to repair boots using plants and such which he learned from the local tribes, so while the allies would.have to carry spare boots etc and were dependant on a supply.chain, his.troops could repair their stuff on-the-fly. Fantastic story about how just learning from the natives can greatly enable someone.

Cant wait to see some paint on these
