Subject: Deathwing vs Black Templars -- My first video battlerep! (Video)
I recently started playing all TH/SH Deathwing myself, except that I use 2 whirlwinds rather than a second IC and I am finding the army to be a lot of fun to play with!
It is too bad that your Landspeeders were shot down so early in the game! If even one of the three was left alive it could have contested either objective or use its melta to take out that pesky rhino in your objective zone. Do you usually start with the Landspeeders in reserve or on the table on objective games (I have tried both but have not found a clear winner)?
Second, considering the lack of impassible terrain and the low model count of the Black Templar army do you regret not placing any of your terminators in Deathwing Assault or regular reserve?

It would go a long way towards making the batrep better.
I agree! I'll have to find ways to cut down on the noise, it wasn't really that loud there, but looks like my cam picks up background noise good

I'm running the second IC as a points filler currently. This is my first game with them, and luckily it was against a competative and compitent player in one of the harder missions to win on (C&C is a terribad format IMO).
Normally I find I like starting the speeders on the table. A huge deciding factor here was the fact that I penned his speeders, but got nothing better than a 2 the first couple turns, but in return, he wrecked mine. I feel perhaps I should have boosted and foregone my pre-emptive strike with them more. Also, I focused far too much effort on one half of the field. My plan was actually to stop all his mobility on deployment, then swoop in on his objective, because of lack of mobility it would have been hard for him to come at mine and hold his. However, after turn 3 where I had only managed to wreck 1 razorback by then... that plan went out the window
Next time I'll probably at least keep one unit in reserve; if I had gotten a squad in his backfield early it may have helped tremendously.

Nice job Zid. Was enjoyable and well paced enough. Again, agree with the background noise issue but that can be difficult to overcome. Most camcorders have pretty much omnidirectional mikes. Some people dub in the voices afterwards. One guy I know that's a video editing crazy, bought a microphone and figured out what camcorder let him plug it into so he has good audio (not that anyone of us really enjoys his vacation videos) but it'd be something to look into based on what kind of camera you have. If you are using some sort of blogging camera, I don't think there's an audio jack available unfortunately. It'd probably have to be post production editing.

Hes the only player in our store, but hes getting a few others into them. We also gained a second deathwing player; so I'll probably get a vs game in against him sometime!
You may want to post your lists on this thread. It'll be nice to be be able to look through list again without having to play the video everytime you want to check on what wargear/units you or your opponent has. It also helps if readers like your builds and want to try out something similar.
A problem you're going to find with deathwing is definitely the mobility. While cyclones help, some armies are just going to run rings around your army. Then again, that's just an inherent weakness of deathwing that DA players are just going to have to adjust too.
Also, here's an interesting "trick". Get scout bikers with a teleport homer. If you go 1st, do you scout move to about 12" of your opponent. Then on Turn 1, deathwing assault your termies off of that icon.

See I thought about that; however, I'm a big fan of just massed termis. Perhaps I may try Bikers if a new dex ever hits, but as of now, I think my DW army is set. Good idea with the lists though! Updated

I'd avoid BA like the plague, as SM vs SM matches can be boring real quick. Toss of the coin for the other xenos, personally--I'm leaning towards Demons, though. It'd be fun to see them before and after the next edition release, to see what's changed.

I agree, you deployment was way to one sided. I new it was going to be a draw after turn 2. I really think having some LC's in with the Terminators squads would have helped. Also more fire support would be nice for you.
Just my opinion though.

I tend toagree; I'll probably take both my BA and DE with me next time and if I face xenos, I'll take my BA, if I face marines, my DE
