Hey,

Here is my Vindicator. Took me a long time to get this done....but it was loads of fun! I am trying to get my SM force done so I can sell it painted to get a Necron force as I have always loved them!
Feedback appreciated!

It's well done.

I like it a lot... I'm not sure why... maybe because the blue is mostly covered up?

I really like it, but it looks less like weathering, and more like OSL where the tank is being driven through some lava or other molten substance!

Great overall job though so i'll give you an 8!

The rust effect you did is exceptional, especially on the siege shield. My only critique would be that there is a little "too" much rust, that thing looks like it's ready for the scrap heap. LOL J/K But the techmarines in your army have really been slacking lately. Nice job 9/10 for sure!

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

I have to say, that is sick.... In more ways than one. The blue is much more prominent than before and the weathering is pretty sweet.

this is true! But then i could say that it was pristine when they brought it in on a Thunderhawk but because of the corrosive atmosphere started eating the metel...............JK

Solid paining. Too much mud for my taste. You should drill the exhaust tubes open.

Perhaps one could argue that the weathering is OTT, but it's so well executed, I don't mind at all. It looks like my car so I believe it

So...... I started by base coating the tank in my Ultramarines mixture of 50/50 regal blue and Ultramarines blue. I then washed the entire model with a black wash. For tanks I do not use my expensive GW washes I use instead black craft paint watered down to the consistency of a regular wash. Now for the weathering. Take a brush that is ruined and has the bristled spread out at random and lightly paint on stratches and drybrush a bit to your prefrence. I then took brown craft paint mixed in some sand I got at a craft store and then I mixed in some craft glue. I manually placed chunks where I wanted them while dry brushing a little bit. Just keep adding until you think its enough. Now take regular brown craft paint and drybrush it on just thin enough so as to give the effect of a thin layer of dust. Put it where you want it. After everything is dry wash it with the said mixture all over where you put the mud and leave a little of the original dust color there towards the top of the tank too blend a little. After dry take a very watered down orange and paint it in the crevices for rust. When the mud is dry highlight it with a brown that is lighter then the original mud color so as to give it a fresh look. Oh and one more quick thing..... did you notice the raised bumps on the side of the tank? Use craft glue to make those bubbles as if the painted is coming off. I would weather the top of the tank also then you could just drybrush in the color for the top of the tank because in real life they do not get a lot of dust up on top.

Technically good. One could argue the weathering is too much (I personally think it is, SM in general and Ultramarines in particular are really anal about equipment maintenance).

But what I wonder is, why is the shell on the back crane green and slimy? As if some nurgle daemon spat it out.

I think it's a bit over the top on the weathering, and agree with the comment about SM's being on top of equipment maintenance.

However it is well done and would suite a chaos tank perfectly.

Some things come down to personal choice.

Still, good work.

I think you have got some good basic skills down, but for me the mud is applied all wrong and too clumpy; If you google things like muddy tanks, 4 x 4 in the mud, muddy car, ect...you will see that the mud collects thicker at the bottom of a vehicle and thinner at the top,you kind of have the opposite thing going here.

I also think if you changed the consistency of your mud, right now all the granules are of the same size, or appear to be, I think you need a wider variety of dirt size to really pull the effect off

lastly, to really help sell the mud effect, it needs to be wet. I would look into getting some future floor polish and either airbrush it over the mud, or mix it in with your mud to help sell the wet look of the mud, other wise if it was dry, I think it wold be a lighter color.
