Just finished 1st platoon after starting in early January. I free handed every stinking "U" on their shoulder pads. Thanks OCD! I also bought some dangerous environment cadians off of Forge World and plan to use them as Veterans. Tell me what you think, thanks!

Awesome work man! Looks great overall. Love the freehand.

Some nitpicking - I see a couple of moldlines and barrels that aren't drilled. But as stated - nitpicking.

A very cool idea and very good execution.

Guilty Trondar, I am terrible about the moldlines and barrels. I just never got around to getting the right tools to deal with that. I figure having a completely painted Imperial Guard army will be a feat in itself.

This is a great idea! Can't believe no one has thought of it before. Of course, the ultras would have a private human army as an auxiliary force.

This is really cool, and very well painted.

As an Ultramarine player, I love it, as an Imperial Guard player, love it some more, from the "I free-handed the Us" even cooler, only issue, Us are on the Guardsman's right shoulders, I'd have went with the traditional UM left shoulder, but still awesome

I debated that alot . I guess it just comes down to preference, I wanted the IG markings to be traditional, because if anyone is gonna follow the rules around here, its gonna be the Ultramarines and whoever they are in charge of.

*insert random smurf joke here*

These are actually very well done! It's interesting that the fluff makes these guys a bit more common than most people would think, but nobody seems to want to model them. You've taken the idea and ran very well with it!

One minor suggestion I have: Perhaps getting your hands on some laurels and laureled heads (WFB empire kit parts maybe) to fit with the whole Greco-Roman feel Ultramar has? Still nice work in any case.

Not bad at all. 7/10. A few suggestions:

Your highlights are quite rough and clumsy looking. Try to blend them in for a smoother transition.

You have missed quite a number of mold lines. These really take away from the finished piece.

Drill out your barrels. They will look much better.

These are very cool, but then I am a huge Ultramar Fanboi in any case!!

I think maybe just a very quick glaze over the shoulder pads would blend the highlights together a bit, and as for mold lines I think anybody can forgive IG players that, we have to paint so many figures!!

I also run Macragge PDF alongside my 2nd Company Ultras, they're about half way through my plog here:

Painting those Ultramarine symbols on the shoulder pads is a pain though I must agree.

I think the hostile environment suits would work well as veterans from Calth, that's what i was going to use them for.
