Hi there Dakka!

In addition to all my other 40k projects (most of which are on hold, apart from my Orks), I decided that I really need to get back into Warmahordes. I really miss the game, all tactic-y and mechanic-y, and would like to play again sometime soon. So, with the event of a new FLGS opening in my town ( this happens a lot, they rarely last long), I headed down to see what was going on. I picked up a Cryx battle box, the old metal one as they were going cheap (£20 as opposed to the usual £35-ish), and happily started to assemble them. I picked up some stunning cog bases from the store too, which were also dirt cheap (10 infantry sized bases for £2.50 is a steal!) and happily tottered home with my purchases. Upon arriving home I found the remnants of my old Cryx army too, and got most of it stripped down ready for painting.

Spent so far:
Cryx Starter box set: £20
3 bags of bases: £7.50

So, the task as hand, is to paint these miniatures:

That's
10 mechanithralls
2 Slayers
2 Pistol Wraiths
3 Deathrippers
1 Goreshade the Bastard
1 Warwitch Deneghra (not pictured)

With only these paints:

That's
Miniature Paints Dark Grey
Foundation Astronomicon Grey
Miniature Paints White
P3 Sanguine Base
Miniature Paints Bright Red
Foundation Denheb Stone

To create a comic book style, slightly eerie, minimalist vibe that I've always felt that Cryx suited.
I've painted my first mini, Deneghra from the starter kit, and my faction deck is on the way.

Comments on the colour scheme, and the project in general would be greatly appreciated. Also advice on where to go next would be amazing. I plan to assemble and paint a warjack next, maybe one of the Deathrippers!

Cheers Dakka!

i like how this is shaping up, but it seems like her armor could still use something to help it stand out a touch

in the computer?

i had the same idea for a paint scheme after reading Sin City! the stark black and white coupled with splashes of red will make a very striking army.
i look forward to seeing the completed force!

Cheers man! Yeah, I thought so too, I'm gonna add a few more highlights all the way up to white and hope this sorts it!

Cheers to you too! Love the artwork in Sin City, if you ever get round to it i'd love to see!

Started work on my first few 'jacks a few days ago. We have a Slayer, almost done:

and a Deathripper, almost done:

Here's a group shot too:

Progress is gonna be slow on this one, have a Slaaneshi 40k speedbuild taking up all of my time at the moment. Have a look here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/441101.page

As always, C+C would be useful, bear in mind nothing is 100% done!

So there's been a slight change of plan. The monochrome scheme I was going for was boring me so much, so I decided to go for a slightly more "sea" themed army, having been gifted an eSkarre model a few weeks ago. I decided on a colour scheme of sea greens and verdigris'd coppers, a scheme I've never seen on a Cryx army before.

First up, eSkarre, had a lot of fun painting this one, didn't take me more than a couple of hours over two days

And her battlegroup:
A Slayer

and two Deathrippers

And a shot of the full battlegroup:

I have two Pistol Wraiths I plan to paint tonight, and 12 Mechanithralls and 6 Bile Thralls to build my 25pts list. Hoping I have as much fun painting all that infantry as I have the caster and 'jacks.

C+C would be appreciated please!

These look great and the colors are definite improvement on the originals.
