Hey everyone. I just wanted to put up a test model for my Word Bearers army I just started. When I complete more, I'll be sure to put them up. Let me know what you think.

Really nice color scheme. It fits really really well with them. Also, you can't go wrong with dead smurfs.

if you can do it, put some scripture on the side of his head. For the most part, they like to tatoo themselves with scripture. Otherwise, I think its one of the best word bearers I've seen in a long time.

Indeed a little light scripture work in cream on his armour would be fitting, but the painting's great as it is. I'd say that some purity seals, chains, etc wouldn't go amiss (my own Word Bearers are each walking shrines), so perhaps investing in the Black Templars upgrade kit might be an idea if you want your army to stand out a bit more. ^^

I'll have to look into the scripture stuff. I have some robes from the DA upgrades that I was planning on using for chosen etc...but Black Templar upgrades might work too...I'll check it out

Looks amazing! Mind divulging a few of your secrets on how you achieved the red? I tried a Word Bearer army once and it turned out terrible...

It looks good. I like the bare SM head on the chaos marine, I believe I've somehow never seen that done before. It's not crazy OTT chaos and it works.

Fantastic!

I've also started a Word Bearers army, and it's great to see another Bearer of the Word of blessed Lorgar!

Definitely looking forward to more.

Very nice, lovely technique.

Extra decoration is the only way forward, Dark Angels gear you have should work, I'm DA and they have loads of fancy gubbins you could stick on them, and freehand scripture would look awesome, just not over the top!

Well done mate!

That's a solid looking WB. I really like the scheme you've done on his base. It really sets of the reds of his power armor.

Lovely head work and that red as previously stated is very nicely done, it's hard to get a nice rich red in varying shades to look different from BA armies but this is top work and looks great!

Lovely job, nicely based as well.

Except for that poor dead, noble, valiant, stoic Ultramarine of course.

Where are the rest of them?! There must have been at least twenty to take down a son of Gulliman surely?!

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Great color scheme, wonderful painting skills, and like the Ultra shoulder pad for added effect.

Love the look. My only wonder is if he looks a little to much... like a hero? A goodguy? Face is just too awesome. Maybe some tattoos will be just the trick.

Great looking red. Personally i don't like the arm pad on the ground. Kinda makes me think that he stands in the same spot every battle you are in. I'd personally keep things like that to a minimum, But the model looks really great. The best i have seen so far.

Jealous that Horus is Warmaster

I loved the older Word Bearer scheme that they had in the 3rd/4th edition codex. Red with a bone trim - tons of scripture on the armor.

Thanks for the comments guys. I can answer a couple of things you guys brought up:

The red is just scab->washed ogryn, then badab-> mechrite watered down over the middle of the armor plates-> tinted with baal red and badab til the color seemed dark enough.

Highlight is mechrite/dwarf flesh 2:1

As for the pad on the ground, it's supposed to be an FU to my buddy who plays ultras. We're designing a display board together, so a bit of that stuff will be i corporatdd into this army.

Im working on the rest of his squad, ive started to include some extra purity seals and parchments with some writings. I'll be sure to post more when they're done

He looks awesome. Very nice paintjob. He just doesn't look evil enough though. I agree with the other posts that some tatoos on his scalp or some blood shot eyes or pale skin, something to bring the evil to the surface.

Wow! Very nicely done!
There is no end of places you can find purity seals and scrolls to add on to them - I used skaven bits on my word bearers.

The face looks fantastic but it looks like an uncorrupted marine - I agree with the above that a tattoo or something might help.
Looking forward to more pics!
