Subject: Craftworld Avior vs. Imperium Scum at RTT
I went to an 1850 point tournament at the Texas Toy Solider in Dallas.
I brought a Mechdar list different from what I normally run.
16 people were there and filled all 16 spots. 1 Eldar Player, 1 dark Eldar player. 3 CSM Players. 6 or so GK players. 1 Necron player. 1 BA player, rest Space Wolves.
Brian and Michael showed up with CSM, GK, the 2 better players in Dallas. Nick from chapterhouse studios also made an appearance.

Eldrad goes in a falcon. Autarch goes in storm guardian serpent. Serpent gives Falcons Cover.
Eldrad Guides Falcons and fortune's dark reapers.
Dark Reapers exarch ignores cover and re rolls wounds, and can do some good damage to walking infantry.
Falcons can do good damage to tanks.
Fire Dragons blow stuff up.
Autarch and his unit kill whatever infantry/Tanks that I cant allocate to something else.
Overall its a pretty cool list that I think can do well.

Deployment was Dawn of War, Game type victory points.
I win the roll off to go first, and Elect to bring it all on turn 1.
He Brings his Draigo and paladin unit and puts them in the cover behind the building in the middle, along with a purifier unit on foot with 2 psycannons.
Eldar Turn 1
I choose to make a bubble behind some cover to the right. It seems like the best cover on my side of the board.
I walk my Dark Repaers on the right side of the board to have a firing lane on the space to the right of the building, and the building itself.
I bring my jetbikes in front of them to give them cover.
I bring both falcons up, with the Dire Avenger Serpent in front giving cover, but also has cover.
I bring 1 Fire Dragon Serpent on next to my falcons. I turbo boost 2 fire dragon serpents from left to right to get into the center of the board around 12" up. They both have flat out saves, and should be out of range of enemy fire due to night fighting. These 2 serpents are going for the RifleDreds next turn.
I shoot what I can at the paladins/Purifiers in the cover. I fail alot of night shooting / Paladins pass saves and I dont do a whole lot.
My goal for this game is to take out the dreds early. After that I hope to shoot at his troops with Dark Reapers/Falcons and to force him to come towards me bubble. As soon as the Paladins move out of cover I plan to hit them pretty hard with whatever I have left.
Grey Knights turn 1
Mark brings in 1 Dred far left corner with 2 squads of 5 strikes.
He reserves both solo Paladins.
The Squad of 5 comes in the middle behind cover, with a dred behind it giving it cover.
He moves his paladin squad left.
He moves the purifier squad in the middle back away from my dark reapers.
Shooting, He tries to spotlight a fire dragon wave serpent. He rolls a 33 for night fighting....and is barely in range to light it up.
Psycannons from the paladin unit try and shoot, but are out of range by about 5".
His Dred then shoots. He gets a pen. I try to save it, and fail. He rolls a 5 and the fire dragon serpent is destroyed. Dragons pass pinning.
Eldar Turn 2
Eldrad casts guide on falcon and fortune's the serpent giving them cover.
My Fire Dragon Serpent turbo's towards the dred.
My other fire dragons serpent turbos to the far right of the board out of psycannon range.
Fire Dragons move for the cover.
I shoot my falcons at the Razor and blow its weapon off giving me half points.
I shoot everything else that can at the paladins doing nothing.
Dark Reapers try to shoot at the purifiers in the ruins, But I dont have line of sight to any of them.
Grey Knights Turn 2
His Dred in the corner moves towards my army.
His strike squads move towards me and run.
Everything in his army moves for shots on my dragon serpent.
His guys get out of their tank.
2 Dreds and alot of psycannons open up on my wave serpent. Through bad rolls by him, and good saves by me, he doesnt manage to do anything to it.
He also assults my wave serpent and doesnt do anything
Eldar Turn 3
Eldrad casts guide guide fortune like last turn.
Fire Dragons move to get a shot at dreds rear armor.
Other Firedragons move up 12" to get shots, and to get ready for a turn 4 strike against pallys.
Fire Dragons Melt the Dred.
Dark Reapers still cant see anything.
Falcons shoot at the squad of 5 and kill 3 or 4.
Everything else shoots at Pallys/Other squad in building and dont do a whole lot.
GK Turn 3
1 Strike squad on the far left moves towards me.
Dred moves to get a possible rear shot on my wave serpent.
1 Strike squad moves 30" to hit dragons.
Other squad of 2 moves to hit dragons.
Pallys move forward, but only 2 psycannons out of cover.
His squad of 6 or so strikes get into the rhino/razor.
Both of his solo paladins come in, but he brings them in the far left behind BLOS.
Through shooting and assaulting my serpent at his edge is blown up, and my dragons are whiped.
His pallys also shoot at my far right Serpent immobolising it.
Eldar Turn 4
At this point Im behind a little bit.
I was planning a fire dragon strike this turn on the paladins. I was going to move 5 fire dragons, my autarch and the storm guardians, and my back 5 fire dragons, for a 13 melta, falcon shooting attack against the paladins. Because my right wave serpent is now immobolized I cant do this anymore.
Eldrad casts his guide guide fortune.
Both fire dragons move towards pallys.
I shoot at the squad of 2 with falcons and whipe it.
Reapers open up on the far left strikes, and through 4 cover saves he looses 1.
5 fire dragons in cover shoot at paladins but dont do anything.
GK Turn 4
His Strikes do their 30" move right into my army.
His purifier tank moves 12" to my right, drops the troops out into cover.
Paladins move up but stay in cover.
Dred moves up.
Far strikes move up.
His Strikes shoot a flamer and bolters into my wave serpent and immobolize it.
Shooting from the purifiers see's 6 cover saves on my fire dragons, I faill all 6 and they are whiped.
2 other fire dragons are whiped out.
Eldar Turn 5
At this point my opponent is being very aggresive and I think I might have a chance to win or come close. Hes put 2 strike squads in range to be whiped, and his purifiers are now in range of my Dark Reapers which is a mistake.
I guide falcons and I doom the Strike Squad.
Autarch gets out, and moves north to get a shot off on the paladins and joins the dragon squad.
Warlock and 10 storm guardians get out to kill the 4 strikes.
Falcons shoot at the squad of 4 strikes in his backfield and kill 3.
Dark Reapers shoot at the back right purifiers. Exarch misses twice.
Autarch and 3 fire dragons shoot at the Paladins and dont do anything.
Guardian Jetbike shoot a volley into the strikes causing wounds.
Storm Guardians shoot 2 Meltas and a Heavy Flamer, and 8 Pistols into the Doomed Strike Squad, causing like 15 wounds or so. 1 Dies to a melta, and he passes like 15 saves.
I then Assault into him. His initiative7 guy kills 2. I retaliate with 26 or so attacks, and cause 12 wounds. He Passes all 12 armor saves, and kills 1 more.
I loose combat, Fail leadership, and my squad runs off the board.
Overall pretty bad turn. I couldnt kill the strike squad with 25 or so wounds. I couldnt put a dent in the paladin squad. I couldnt hurt the top right purifiers. I couldnt whipe out the top right left strike squad.
GK Turn 5
His Purifiers shoot and destroy my wave serpent.
Everything else shoots at my fire dragons and autarch. Fire dragons are whiped, autarch is brought down to 2 wounds. I pass 3/3 at one point for an auto kill which was nice.
We roll and game continues.
Eldar Turn 6
I guide a Falcon, Fortune Autarch, and Guide the Dark Reapers.
Dark Reapers shoot at purifier squad and whipe it out.
Autarch shoots and charges the Purifier squad, and he whipes it with initiative 10 power attacks.
I shoot at the Dred and Stun/Immobolize it for half points.
GK Turn 6
He shoots at my Autarch, and fortune keeps him up.
Game Ends
I have around 850 points left, my Opponent has around 1200, And Wins by around 350 victory points.
Overall pretty frustrating game. The Round didnt have a secondary or tertiary, and was a strait win loss. Usually 200 or so victory points would have been a draw or narrow win, and I normally could have taken secondaries or tertiaries to take the win. Mark was basically at free reign to just widdle me down.
He got lucky in killing my fire dragons serpent.
Overall I failed like 15 melta wounds on the paladins, and around 10-20 other wounds on the pallys. I wasnt able to kill the razor for full points. I wasnt able to kill the dred for full points. Wasnt able to finish off the strike squad with 1 guy for points. I wasnt able to kill the paladin solo's because he brought them way off behind BLOS. His strike squad of 4 was able to give him around 300 points, and passed 25 armor saves to really hurt me.
I could have deployed Dark Reapers more centrally to get better shots off which would have helped. I also could have come in on the left, and although it had less cover it would have caused his paladins to move.
I deploy at the 12" line from the center. 1 Fire dragon serpent south to get around the building that way.
Everything else towards the top, in order to get turbo boosts next turn. Both Falcons behind fire dragon serpents.
Dark Reapers in building.
GK Deployment
Deploys in a wall of rhinos/Dreds right at his deployment line.
Eldar Divination
I cast divination and move my autarch unit south. My Plan is to fortune both fire dragon serpents, and move them towards 2 dreds. My Falcons will shoot at rhinos, and then my dark reapers will kill their content. My 2 melta units below will do the same thing. Hopefully turn 3 atleast 4 dreds will be dead, with a couple rhinos.
I ask my opponent if Im free to go for turn 1. He says yes. I roll my dice casting fortune, but he says "Oh wait let me try to seize". Although its out of order because I just rolled fortune, I laugh as he rolls a 6.
At this point Ive basically lost the game. I think about conceding, and just leaving and calling it a day, but I decide that pouting wont get me anywhere and to just finish out the day the best I can.
GK Turn 1
He moves up everything. Shooting sees 1 fire dragon serpent blown, and another immobolized and weapons taken off.
Cortez and a Vindicare are both on a hill to my far right.
Eldar Turn 1
I still have a small chance to mabe win.
I fortune a fire dragon serpent, and guide both falcons.
Both Fire dragons move towards his dreds and try to get into cover.
Autarch's serpent turbo boosts towards his left flank.
Fire Dragon Serpent turbo boosts towards his right flank.
Falcons shoot at Rhino, And Stun it with 6 Twin Linked str8 shots.
Dark Reapers shoot at Vindicare and it takes a wound.
GK Turn 2
He shuffles around.
He shoots at my Fortune'd falcon, and manages to blow it up, killing a dragon.
He shoots and blows up my autarch's Wave Serpent, blows it up.
He shoots and kills 10 storm guardians, the warlock, and my autarch who are all in cover.
He shoots, kills 2 Dark Reapers and my exarch , I fail 3/3 wounds.
Eldar Turn 2
Fire Dragons from transport kill a dred.
Fire Dragons in middle cover shake a dread.
Rhino is Shaken Again.
Rest of the Game summary.
Rhino is Destroyed, Cortez is killed by reapers.
Shooting see's all my fire dragons killed.
I end the game with 2 Falcons, Eldrad, DAVU, Jetbikes, and Mabe some Reapers left.
I loose the Game 9-3 Kill Points, Again there is no secondary or tertiary objective for us to play for.
Game Summary - . Loosing to Grey Knights is annoying. Loosing to Grey Knights that are unpainted and half assembled is even more annoying.

Sarat and I have both had unlucky days. He lost game 1 by a couple hundred vpoints, and game 2 by 1 kill point.
Ive played Sarat at Railhead , and in a FoB qualifier game last year. Hes a pretty chill guy and we both just sit down and have a pretty relaxed game.
Deployment : Pitched.
Mission : 4 objectives.
1 Objective is on my right on a hill.
1 objective is on my left in the trees.
1 objective is back left in his deployment.
1 objective is in the middle building.
Eldar Deployment
Jetbikes Reserve.
Everything comes in left.
I plan to take the objective on the right with bikes, to contest top and middle, and to hold mine like the Alamo.
Salamders Deployment
2 flamer tac squads are reserved.
2 landspeeders are reserved.
Everything else comes in left. Vulkan and libby are both in land raider.
Eldar 1
Divination brings the autarch serpent back over, Sarat didnt take the bait lol.
Both Falcons are guided.
Fire Dragon serpent is fortuned.
I turbo boost all 3 fire dragons and Autarch serpent forward to blow up his army and take out his mobility.
Falcons shoot at a dred. They destroy it despite cover saves.
Shooting sees my Autarchs wave serpent destroyed through cover saves.
His terminators get out, and multi assault my autarchs unit, and my other wave serpent.
He blows up my wave serpent, and no fire dragons are killed in the explosion.
He might of lost a terminator in the explosion (which will become a theme for this game).
He assaults my storm guardians which emergency disembarked and are pinned. I loose combat, and I break. Terminators cant consolidate.
Eldar turn 2
Well that was a pretty aweful turn for me. He got lucky shots off, and a lucky assault off and Ive lost a troop unit, 2 wave serpents.
My Autarch is still within 6" and cant regroup and runs away.
Guardian Jetbikes come in on my far right to hold objective.
Fire dragons move to get shots on Land Raider/Dred.
Shooting Sees the Land Raider immobolized and stunned.
His other dread blows up, and kills a terminator in the explosion.
I think my fire dragons shoot at the termies killing 1 or 2.
Everything else shoots at various stuff.
Salamanders 2
Tac squad comes in middle.
Tac squad comes in far right.
Both Landspeeders stay off.
Vulkan gets out to smack fire dragons to my left.
Termies go smack my fire dragons.
He shoots something at my middle dragon serpent, I believe he blows it up, and a terminator dies in the explision.
Fire Dragons dont get whiped, and end up sticking in combat!
Eldar 3
I double guide falcons and move them right 6".
I move my last wave serpent down in front of Autarch squad.
Autarchs squad regroups.
Falcon Fire blows up his Rhino, the last terminator dies in the explision (lol hes like the 3rd termi to die from vehicle explosions).
Dark Reapers then whipe the squad that was in the rhino.
salamanders 3
Speeders dont come in.
He shoots at my fire dragons and they live.
Far right Rhino moves and smokes.
Eldar 4
Fire Dragons shoot and blow up rhino.
Dark Reapers kill whats inside.
Falcons blow up the far right rhino.
Autarch gets inside Tank.
salamanders 4
Landspeeders come in. One middle, one left.
Troops move up my right.
Eldar 5
jetbikes move to control hill.
Falcon moves 12" to control my objective.
Serpent moves 12" to control top objective.
Salamanders 5
Vulkan gets out of land raider and assaults my serpent, does nothing.
Speeder comes close to contesting my bottom objective, but I dont think hes close enough.
Marines move up right, but arnt within 3 of my right objective.
Speeder contests middle.
We roll and the game continues, but at this point im 2-0 anyways.
Eldar 6
Falcon moves into center ruinz, and Blows up the land speeder.
Dark Reapers blow up the land speeder at my home objective.
Autarch and storms get out and kill the libby.
Other fire from stuff kills vulkan.
I know have 3 objectives.
Salamanders 6
Marines whipe bikes and take control of the far right hill.
Game ends.
Eldar win 3-0.
Overall pretty fun game. I was able to get my Meltas into his army, and I was able to knock out 2 dreds and his land raider very quickly. I still had some bad luck, but I had some good luck as well killing terminators and his armor. Falcons did a great job blowing up rhino's, and then dark reapers killed the squads inside, killing a total of like 20 something marines. I took out his mobility quickly, then I just widdled him down. The only mistakes I think sarat made were not utilizing his army. I feel like vulkan could have done more, and Im not sure I would have reserved the speeders. I also would have brought the other tac squad in the middle instead of going for the far right objective, I probably would have contested that with a speeder instead.
Im glad to have ended the tournament on a good note. I ended up winning a 25$ painting prize for having a fully painted army. Only like 5/16 had painted armies(lol bandwaggon).
The tournament was fun, the people were really nice. I did not like the fact that missions had no secondaries or tertiaries. The format was very biased towards some armies, and I dont think it was a very well organized tournament.
I went into the tournament with a solid plan for my army. I had problems executing that plan. The Gunline eldar is something that I dont think I will run again. I think that using Eldrad to guide 2 falcons is a waste of points, and he can be used for better things than that. I didnt like the fact that my army had a very limited impact, I really couldnt get into anyones face very well. From now on im going to utilize more close combat oriented Eldar, and I think that will work out better. My Luck wasnt very good, but I made some mistakes as well.
I gave my prize away to a friend who needed stuff (as im already maxed FOC for eldar). Hopefully I can utilize what I learned to make a better lists for the GT's this summer.

It seems like they are a hair over the top and that everyone has adopted the shooty dread approach with them.
Grey Knights are my hardest matchup, Dark Eldar are my easiest when playing as eldar.
The problem with Grey Knights is their overpowered shooting.
Stormravens ignore melta which hurts my fire dragons, and with a 3+ shrouding save its almost impossible for Eldar to bring them down.
Mindstrike missiles and psychout grenades make Eldar Psykers almost worthless.
Psycannons at str7 on a BS4 platform mean that GK basically has twice as many low str shots as me, that are a str higher, rending, and on a BS4 Platform.
Dreds with autocannons nail in the coffin with a high amount of twin linked str8 shots.
Either Im just bad at facing grey knights, or their shooting is hard for every eldar general im not sure. Supposedly GK is one of our easier match ups with Space wolves being our hardest, but for me GK is a real struggle.
