I just have to ask this. The over massive Pauldrons drive me made.So I was Wondering if anyone had a pic without them or with smaller ones. I know most think they are Iconic, i am just wanting to know if anyone knows of pics like these and not debate the iconic ness of them.

Hmm, I don't know about pictures of them, but if you really hate them, you could buy some of the scout models and use thier arms. They all come with smaller pauldrons on them.

Yes, they are. Straight out of the bitz box.
(I think they are from the Assault Marines box, but hat doesn't really make a difference.)

Their heads, hands, and generally everything look very out of proportion without the shoulder pads to help balance things out.

The heads are indeed huge. Again soncka, Thanks. I find they look better without the pads myself.

Has anyone ever thought about using a smaller head?

The after-market heads you can get (Pig Iron, for instance) tend to be a bit smaller than GW ones. The System Trooper heads work really well with Marine Scouts so they should look pretty good on normal marines as well.

Hm, you give me some ideia... I have the same issue with the regular pauldron, it is iconic, but marines normally look better without it... Maybe i should make my chapter wear only one pauldron... hm intersting ideia...

About a year ago or so there was a guy on here who did a Star Wars themed army, made all the SM's look like storm troopers, they were assembled with out poldrons and they looked grey.

I think the guy was "Next Level Painting" or some thing like that, he was a commission guy but I have not seen him around in a while.

That is an idea, might look interesting with just one, maybe one of the older types with the studs.

I have done them. It looks alright.

I put the pintle-mounted stormbolter on my predator, leaving off the redonkulous shoulder pads as I thought he wouldn't be able to climb thru the hatch with them. Sorry don't have a pic right now though.
