Hey mates. Well after deciding to play a 40K game with my Thousand Sons (you can see where this is going), I went to another game store, where a 2x Grey Knight players (farther and son), where just finishing up mopping the floor with these two young players who where just starting out, and they where just treating these two kids like crap and insulting there army's the entire time....... Now I know this isnt all of them, but in my experience, many Grey Knight Players tend to be cocky, power-hungry gamers who just want to win every single game, so me being me, I told them to shut it. Asking what I had, they began laughing and saying that Thousand Sons are a joke, so naturally I accepted there challenge in a 2,000 point game. first game was against the son, who ran a Troop-Heavy list with a lot of interceptors, and to put it bluntly, it was over in turn one.

Him" Hah! My Grey Knights are in position to assault your pathetic Chaos army next turn!" (what he actually said, and this guy was older than me shockingly)

Me: "Fine with me" Now all 3x of my 9x manThousand Son Squad's will rapid-fire into your Grey Knights, oh and I have Warp-Time with my Sorcerer's so I get rerolls to hit and wound with them."

Him "What, that's OP!"

Me: (After rolls) "Hmm, "54 shots, 32 wounds mate" (I admit it, I roll very well )

Him: "Are you kidding me!! I have to take 32 3+ saves!!"

Me: "Actually you dont get any saves at all"

Him: " .......... What?"

Me: "My guys have AP3 bolters, so your guys die instantly."

Overall, it ended badly for him as I mopped the floor with his army and his pretty good painted Grey Knight Lord flying across the game-store and him in tears. Seeing what my army did to his, his farther challenged me against my list........ which ended pretty much the same as the game against his son, but this time it was his Dreadnought that went flying across the store . After being told to get the hell out by the guy in charge of the store (who was trying so hard not to laugh at this point), both of them began yelling at me and saying that Thousand Sons are overpowered and should be banned from the store as they waddled out.......... Coming from a Grey Knights players, thats just funny and very hypocritical. But overall, it was rewarding to beat them, and good news is that those two kids who where just starting out both now want to play a Thousands Sons army. Slowly but surely, Chaos is begin to grow .

From a fellow Thousand Sons player, this is why I love my Sons army. Heh, I'd love to hear what their reactions were to the Sons' 4++ invuln saves, if that even came up. Mad props to you man for stepping up and potentially recruiting more players to the Sons forces!

Had something similar happen, though without the dickbaggery before or during the game, heh. I was up against a friend's Grey Knight army, and he deep-struck his squad of Interceptors near my Sons, who were in some trees on the edge of an open area. His deepstrike scattered so his Interceptors landed, not just in the open, but within rapid-fire range of my Sons.

That squad didn't get anywhere.

Yeah, if he's a power armour foot list with no FNP or cover gen against warptime Thousand Sons, that's what some might call a hardcounter. Especially if he teleport shunted into your face to charge his 1A force weapons into 4++.

I've found that winning or losing depends on how well you know the army you're facing. I saw this scenario many times as a DE player. Before their update, my DE army was looked upon with arrogance and disdain. Players had no compunctions about telling me DE suck and that I didn't stand a chance against their mighty SMs. So I'd smirk and say "well let's get this over with then." And I'd wipe them out by turn 4. Suddenly DE were OP to them.

They didn't lose because they sucked or I was good, they lost because they didn't know what any of my weapons did, or how fast my vehicles were, or that I could charge after disembarking, or that incubi have WS5, I5 and power weapons, or that Archons are absolute hth monsters, or how easily my Ravager can annihilate a Terminator squad, etc.

Dominance comes from knowing what options your enemy has and what his stuff does.

strangely enough, I got into daemons just because of GK @_@.... I'm probably gonna get burned now...

Honestly though, GK is already falling behing the new necrons in terms of OP'ness on the tourny scene. I'm pretty sure by next year, we'll all be hating the new Stormeagles and vanilla SM power builds again.

Is this correct? I thought warp time only worked in combat as it's cast at the beginning of the assault phase. In addition it only works on the model using it. In addition, it was recently FAQed to let you only re-roll ALL or NONE not just the ones you fail. :/

So I think you cheated

Warptime, from the CSM codex: "The power is used at the start of any player's turn. If successful, the psyker may re-roll all rolls to hit and rolls to wound for the entirety of that player's turn."

So it's cast at the start of the TURN, which means yes it counts for shooting phase as well, not just assault. And it's reroll all (or none, not just the misses, as the FAQ clarified) hits and wounds, if you so choose. But yes, it also only counts for the psyker, not his whole squad.

So unless the OP was using it for his whole squads, not just the aspiring sorcerers, and only rerolling the fails instead of everything, then no, he wasn't cheating.

Yep Warptime only applies to the sorcerer, not the whole unit. And the faq forces you to reroll everything, even hits. Sonz are still good against pa GK tho.

R.e. Warptime, that faq is ridiculous. I know it's official and we have to accept it, but why does that single slightly useful power get nerfed while Jaws and GK powers like Hammerhand are still present?

And yeah, totally agreeing with the hilarity of anyone calling anything in the current CSM 'dex overpowered. Especially a mono-god force.

Most guys at my GW store don't even know about the recent update. I doubt a lot of people pay a lot of notice to the FAQS.

God I loved that story. I hate those moronic and ignorant jerks who play our game and tarnish our reputation, those people deserve a righteous and bloody thrashing, feel bad for those two kids they trash-talked though.

I'm still quite new to gaming myself (not to collecting) and I've recently chose Codex: Grey Knights not for the over-poweredness but for the look of the army. I will probably go slightly power-hungry as I'll admit I am competative, but a friendly competative, hope I don't turn out like those two fools.

Lash was pretty powerful until they nerfed it.

Which was after the vehicles became meta giving it a "nerf".

I know its hard to believe but the funny thing is that it is true that a Grey Kinight Lord and a Dreadnought when flying. According to the guy running the game-store, they apparently never lost before so it was new to them, and I should of clarified but I only got Warp-Time for my Sorcerer, but like I said, I rolled very good for hitting and wounding against him so it wasnt a big deal. Even better is that there is a 1500 point tournament at the store in a bit, and I am so tempted to play in it just because those two where the first to sign up .

Think they'll ever let you lash vehicles in the next chaos update?

Not all Grey Knight players are like this, I myself play them (stated when they where Daemonhunter) and I find this appalling.

I've had local GK players scream that Chaos Daemons are 'uberfied cheese because;

a) The entire army has invulnerable saves & eternal warrior.

b) I have entire units with power weapons.

c) Pink Horrors are broken as feth apparently because they get too many shots per model, while Flamers are apparently beyond broken because of their alpha strike abilities.

d) Blessings of the Blood God is in their words, "r" because it unfairly nerfs their entire army and they have no way of stopping it beyond being forced to buy Dark Ex on a Libby.

e) I can turn their 'over-costed and average' HQ's like Draigo or Crowe into spawns. (I'm honestly really lucky with Gift of Chaos rolls, and I have a rather impressive tally of victims!)



And it continues too... So this is why they tell me that the only way to beat Daemons is to abuse warp quake and stop me from even landing, because my army is way too over powered and needs to be nerfed or else rolled back into the Chaos marine codex.
Of corse, don't get these morons started on how the Changeling works. GK Ld is apparently too low overall to make him balanced...

Thus, whenever my Daemons show up, out come all the quake-shunting lists and other tailor-made filth fests, followed by the donkeycaves then bragging about how amazing & unbeatable they are.

God I can't wait for Chaos to finally get some OP crap of it's own back! Then I can really make them cry!
