Finished up my Honor Guard. I am pretty happy the way they turned out. I like the bronzed/golden statuesque look. They figures are actually a bit darker looking than the photos show.

I have to thank Odinsgrandson for the blood spatter tip, I think it looks great. Let me know what you think.

I like the bronzy/goldy armour but i think they could use a constrasting colour on the armour such as on the icons or the eyes. It seems to me you are using the blood splatters to do this but to me gives me the image that there is blood on statues if you know what i mean.
Otherwise a solid effort on the basing and painting itself. Ive seen your other stuff and have been watching with interest

Haha I am no amazing painter but I would be happy to give any tips.

All it is on the left sword is just Tamiya clear red with a very small amount of Tamiya smoke to make bits a bit darker. The dripping effect is the same colors but mixed with a bit of UHU glue so it globs together. The actual drips are just fishing line cut and glued so it looks like it is in the process of dripping. The blood spatter is just putting a bit of the Tamiya clear red on a brush and then blow so the paint lands on the model (credit goes to Odinsgrandson).

The models are painted first with 50/50 mix of Shining Gold and Chainmail then covered with a slightly watered down Badab Black wash. That is all there is to it.

Ok while the painting of the armour looks good, they aren't statues, they're marines.
With that said Paint the eyes, plasma gun coil, and add some color to the weapons, and all that type stuff. This will improve the model ALOT as ATM it looks very bland and it's screaming out for splash of colour.

Besides that it looks quite nice. And the blood is done well.

Nice bases, clean painting, but I agree with the others; too monochrome. It's always about the details. On yellow metals I prefer a sepia wash, but to each their own.

It's a very nice piece of gore. Plan on doing more colors on the Honor Guard?

Well it appears from all the feedback I may just have to go back and add a little bit here and there. I will paint the eyes and maybe a couple bits of color on each.

I did try painting the shoulder pads and the other bits but it just didn't give me the look I wanted.

Thanks for the feedback I will go back and some color and maybe a bit more blood.

Any suggestions on the eye color?

all you did was spray paint them with that metalic color.

im not really impressed as they look like they are spray painted.

I think he has done more than spray them, tbh i doubt that is even how he got the finish.

Just paint the details to give it some contrast. I'm digging the base color though, nice idea.

That made me laugh. You really just can't have enough pazazz. I think I will be going the way of green eyes I think they will pop nicely.

Hopefully today or tomorrow I will have some updated pics on these guys.

I think your HG look great, but they do need some kind of umph. Green eyes, plasma glow, or maybe even drill your barrels soldier!!

The dripping blood effect is insane looking, consider me a fan!!

Good work!!

As much as I like how you did the bases and blood effects....
I have to tell you that I do not like how you treated the rest of the miniatures. The fact that you did not paint a single detail is really disappointing.
You have the skill to do these miniatures justice... Right now they just look like they have been base coated.

Update

So I added some details to the Honor Guard and they do look better IMO. I may end up adding a few smaller updates but I think this will be it for these guys.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for all the Feedback BTW!

Wow How did I miss these guys? Great job man I love the paint scheme. Even though the guy in pic #2 here in the last post looks like he might have actually eaten his enemy with all the blood on his mask. (He's got the red thirst)

Jealous!
