Had a test Apoc game against Chris' Chaos army. I brought my big bugs. We will be testing several things in this game.

- My new Dominatrix. At a whopping 1750pts, I wanted to try her out. I also recently acquired a Harridan and was itching to see what a badass he is.

- We are trying out some new custom missions.

- Flyers. Lots of them, mostly on the Chaos side. I think flyers are wicked-sick. Today, I brought 1, the Harridan, and Chris brought 6 Hellblades (of which 4 are actually mine).

2 of the Big Three:

Harry the Harradin


The Mistress of Pain, my WIP (work-in-progress) Dominatrix. Just started to work on her.

Mission Objectives:

1) Kill Points

Gargantuans = 1KP for every 2W that it has

Super-heavies = 1KP for each Structure Point

2) Variable Objectives

There are 11 objectives. You get points for each turn you have a troop choice on top of an objective. Your 4 objectives are worth 1 pt each. Your opponent's 4 objectives are worth 2 pts each. Then there are 2 outer objectives worth 3 pts each. Finally, the central objective is worth 4 pts.

You have to be holding the objective at the end of each of your opponent's turn to claim its points. Objectives can be contested by enemy units as normal. Each objective point is equal to 1KP.

The Harridan should be awesome if you're using the IA:A2E rules for it. And OMG the model! I want one so badly!

What no flamers?

To be honest, I think that there are so many blasts coming from the 6 Hellblades (or is it the Hell talons that blast, I forget) and the titan that the flamers are going to be a bit null and void. Really looking forward to the rest of the batrep.

I am using the rules for him from the BoLS guys - the Lords of Battle v2.0. Basically, he's got stats like the Hierophant as well as many of the same biomorphs as well. It's got only 1 bio-cannon but its got some wicked powers and 48" synapse.

Correct. Now it truly is a flying beast. And the model is just plain magnificient.

Between my big guys (which takes up 3900 out of 5000 pts!), the number of pie plates from his titan, the beserkers and Scabie's huge hellstorm flamer weapon, he's got enough anti-horde. This time because of the big guys, I didn't get to bring my Endless Swarm formation.

Blasts are from the Hell Talons. The Hellblades carry 2 AA TL-autocannons. That's going to be 24 TL-S7 shots from them, a respectable amount of firepower. They would've been good for taking out hive guards (had I brought them), genestealers and other tyranid units. But mainly, they are the best weapons he has to fight my Harridan.

Great conversion model for that dominatrix, when it's done it should rival even Harry the Harridan, although now that you've named it harry he will forever be my favorite model lol. This should be epic, I have never played apoc myself so this should be a treat!

Deployment:
The way you determine who goes first in Apoc is through a bidding process. You bid a time from 1-30 minutes to see who goes first. The one with the lowest time goes first. However, the time you bid is the amount of time you have to deploy. Any unit that you are not able to deploy in time goes into Apoc reserves.

In this case, we both bid for a 1 min. deployment time. Thus, we roll off and I win the bid to go first.


Map of the terrain. We play on a 8'x6' board. Objectives are all near the center of the board.


My deployment. I was not able to deploy all my forces within the 1 min. time limit, thus leaving my zoanthropes and some termagants in reserves along with my harradin and trygon.


Chris' deployment.


His reaver is overlooking the battle from way back. No reserves as he manages to deploy everything on the table.

Tyranids 1

Hierophant advances 12". Tervigon spawns gants and they go to claim an objective.


The Mistress of Pain advances 12" as well. Tervigon spawns gants and both termagants go to claim objectives.


Gants then run and spread out.


My dominatrix fires its hellstorm template at his rhinos and destroy 3 transports as well as shake a 4th rhino.

It fires its bio-cannon at the reaver and takes down 2 Void Shields (I need to take down its 4 Void Shields before I can actually hurt the thing).


Barney, the bio-titan, fires at his land raider. I wreck 1 raider and weapon destroy/stun another raider.


Finally, my other gants and tervigon spread out.


Chaos 1

Marines and 2 rhinos advance.


As does his beserkers and land raider. BTW, Chris has a special Spearhead formation for his LR's which gave them 5++ Inv and essentially Power of the Machine Spirit, though he forgets to take his saves against Barney's S10 bio-cannons.


His shooting is devastating. The reaver alone puts 8W on my bio-titan and wipes out the gant squad claiming an objective near him. Then lascannons from his remaining units put another 1W on my bio-titan.

Objective points are scored at the end of your opponents turn. I get 2 pts now for having 2 units of gants on my own objectives (Chris wiped out my 3rd unit of gants on an objective).


Coming up next, Harry makes his debut.


Tyranids 2

Harry drops in right in front of his reaver. I cannot assault this turn because I am in Flyer mode. However, I am within 12" of him, meaning I will bypass his Void Shields with my shooting.


Barney regenerates back 3W.


Trygon comes out near the middle objective. Both of my gargantuans advance.


Termagants spread out to claim more than 1 objectives. 1 zoan comes in from my right flank.


Tervigon spawns some gants who go and claim 2 objectives. 2 zoans come in from my left flank.


All 3 gargantuans focus on his reaver. After 36 S10 shots at the reaver, I knock down all of its Void Shields, immobilize it, knock off 2 structure points and and get 3 weapon destroyed results (of which my opponent saves all of them). Wow....that guy can take a lot of firepower!


My dominatrix also fires her hellstorm template and wipes 9 out of 15 marines. However, all 3 squads are intact still and they all pass morale.


Onto assault. Who's going to win this one, I wonder....


The Mistress of Pain charges the rhino.


Barney kills all but 1 berserker, who then dies to its Spore Cloud.


The dominatrix explodes the rhino, killing 1 chaos marine in the process.

I think my opponent scores 1 or 2 objective points this turn.


Coming up next....the Chaos Air Force and Papa Scabie....

gdi those are some nice models. I love it! I need to invest in a better camera but so hard when I'm collecting baneblades >.<

Chaos 2

3 Hell blades come in.


1 of his aspiring champions transforms into this big, ugly bloated guy.


Land raiders direct their lascannons at my bio-titan. Berserkers disembark and prepare to sacrifice themselves to the Blood God.


His reaver drops 3 destroyer blasts and reduce Barney to just 1W left. They also kill some of the termagants around him.


It then drops 5 destroyer blasts that wipe out my termagants and kill my tervigon (they auto-wound, ignore cover and causes Instant Death) and 1 zoan.


Lascannons then finish off my big nasty....


....as well as put 2W on my trygon.

Hellblades fire at Harry but fails to penetrate through his armor.


Finally, shooting by chaos marines and Papa Nurgle's hellstorm flamer wipes out most of my termagants, who go-to-ground.


His CSM run to claim the center 4pt objective.


Now for the main attraction, but before that....


His berserkers furiously charge my trygon....


....and kill it, but not before I wipe out 4 berserkers.


The Mistress of Pain attacks first due to lash whips but Papa Nurgle passes all his invuln saves.

Then Papa Nurgle hits will all but 1 of his attacks. Here I make a big mistake. I forget about my Warp Shield saves (which is the same as Eldar Titan Holo-fields). Anyways, he wounds her 4 times, which is doubled to 8W because of his special rule.


I then fail 2 out of 8 No Retreat saves and just like that, the dominatrix is no more. She would have still been alive had I remembered about her Warp Shield.


Tyranids 3

The rest of my reserves come in, 2 zoans here.


1 zoan and termagants to the left.


And termagants through the trygon hole in the middle to contest the center objective. Tervie generates some more gants, who then spread out onto objectives.


Harry decides not to assault his titan yet and remains in Flyer mode. His shooting does a number on the reaver's weapons. However, the reaver makes all his saves except for 1 gun crew shaken. I also take off another 1 structure point (3 SP remaining).


Chaos 3

Chaos turns every single gun they have at Harry, including all 6 Hellblades.


Scabie's Aura of Decay kills off 2 nearby chaos marines and 3 termagants. He then goes after my troops.


The reaver titan easily takes out my other tervigon....


....and a few gants.


Combined fire from his entire army (except for his reaver) strips 4W off of Harry. I believe the Hellblades contributed to 3 of those wounds.


Berserkers then charge and wipe out my contesting gants.


Scabie shoots and then assaults another unit of gants, wiping them out as well.


Tyranids 4
I don't have a whole lot left, but I want to kill his titan.


Gants go after the objective.


My other gants go to contest the center objective to prevent him from getting 4pts.


Zoans cannot kill anything this game. Either I fail my psychic test or my warp blast scatters off his guys or I just plain miss.


However, Harry is going in for the kill this time. He moves in Hover mode and prepare for to charge. My hope is to not kill him this turn but next turn. Otherwise, I am going to get shot down.


Shooting shakes all 3 guns from the reaver. That is actually good that I did not cause further structural damage....yet.


Co-main event. Harry the Hungry tries to eat a titan!


Oh noooo'sss! I didn't mean to kill him!


Chaos 4

He prepares to finish off Harry....


....and Harry is just too full from swallowing the titan to fly away.

Final tally is Chaos 28, Tyranids 20.

I think that would have turned out very differently if you had remembered the special rule for the dominatrix, but a good rep nonetheless!

man that game looks like a lot of fun. Good job!

Amazing stuff - I really thought the big bugs would be too much to handle. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if you had remembered your warp saves on the mistress of pain.

As an aside, I can't believe how big the harridan is!

Seems like the flier and the biotitan really pulled their weight. Shame about forgetting about the dominatrix shields. Seemed like she didn't really live up to the points hype.

Now, I've got to admit I am quite surprised that CSM won. I checked out the lists and I thought you had this in the bag, JY2. I guess sometimes you cannot always tell things on lists despite people saying about 'auto win' etc etc, I guess some people forget it's a dice game.

Excellent battle report. Beautiful Dominatrix model. Too bad it forgot its warp shield and died to papa nurgle. The Reaver titan is also well painted.

Usually foot soldiers don't play a major role in apoc battles, but it seems the Chaos Space Marines were key to Chaos's victory.
