Hey guys ! So I just set up a 5 gallon air tank with a regulator so that I can use my airbrush. I didn't get a compressor because I figured it was cheaper this way since I have a gas station down the block with one.

Problem 1:
I started using it and the only place where it sounds like there could be a leak is in the air regulator knob. I'm not sure if its a leak or if its just the sound of the air moving through it. while I was using it, it seemed my air was going ridiculously fast, I wasn't sure if it was because of a leak or because of use (which was under 30 mins of limited usage). Is this possible or does air just go that quick?

Problem 2:
When I went to fill it at the gas station I was only able to get the tank to around 80psi. I tried filling it more but it wouldn't get past 80psi and the tank can tank up to 125 psi. Is it because the compressor at the gas station isn't strong enough? So on the second try to get it to 125psi it sounded like it was filling the tank but the needle barely moved. So I'm not sure if I filled it enough to begin with. Any help would be great I'd like to get it working right!!

Problem #1. In my experience using similarly sized tanks with spraying out computers with a compressor, I can tell you that after about 90 seconds of spraying that compressor will be coming on. I think you may be experiencing normal usage patterns. Consider that the amount of air stored in that tank isn't *that* much more than is stored in a car tyre. How long do your tyres stay inflated when you're letting air out?

Problem #2. Their compressor is probably capped at 80psi because there isn't any reason to inflate tyres past 80.

#2 as already been said, psi max probably.

However, nitrogen is dirt cheap and a larger molecule, so you will have less leaks.
