Earlier today I played 3 games at my local
GW Store, The second of which was a 500pt game between my Thousand sons, and my opponent James' Flesh Terrors
My Thousand Sons consisted of:
Daemon Prince
-wings
5 Thousand Sons
1 Aspiring Sorcerer
-Doombot
-Rhino
5
CSM
1 Obliterator
James' Flesh Terrors Consisted of something like this:
librarian:
-Jump Pack
-Bloodlance?
5 Assault Marines
5 Assault Marines
5 Devastator Marines
-4 Missile Launchers
The battle commenced when the Thousand Sons spotted some marines occupying a distant building. I won the roll off, but knowing the assault marines would want to close, and have to come within range of the Sons' Inferno bolts to do so, opted to have James' take the first turn. His devastator squad was deployed in a tower on his side of the board, while the librarian and his assault marines were deployed along the hillside. My Rhino, and the
CSM were deployed barely to the right of another tower on my side, while the daemon prince and obliterator were concealed just behind the corners.
Flesh Terrors Turn 1:
The devastators perched high upon a ruined tower, spotted a thousand sons' rhino and a small detachment of marines accompanying it. They unleashed a volley of krak missiles at the rhino, 3 missing, and 1 bouncing harmlessly off of its armor. Both squads of Assault Marines Charged head-first towards the chaos threat with the librarian attempting to use Blood Lance, but failing his psychic test.
Thousand Sons Turn 1:
The
CSM moved towards the assault marines, hoping to get them within range of their bolters. The rhino, raced past them and emptied it's payload of Thousand Sons. The Daemon Prince, seeing the firepower of the devastator squad, rushed fearlessly towards it's prey. The lone obliterator edged around the corner, achieving line of sight with the devastator squad. The Thousand Sons opened fire upon the leading assault squad, the inferno bolts easily dropping two marines. The
CSM fired as well, but found they were just barely out of range. The oblitererator morphed a lascannon and easily sniped a man out of the devastator squad.
Flesh Terrors Turn 2:
The devastators seeing the daemon prince had every intention to make them it's lunch, fired their salvo of 4 krak missiles, all of them finding their target, but only 2 causing the beast harm. The now 3 man unit of Assault marines passed by the thousand sons hoping to make easy prey of the
CSM. The remaining 5 Assault Marines, led by the librarian, made straight for the Thousand Sons. The 3 Assault Marines fired their bolt pistols upon the
CSM, but could not do them harm. The Remaining Assault squad also fired off their bolt pistols, managing to fell a single dust bucket. After the two squads fired, they assaulted both units. The 3 man Assault squad managed to cut down 2
CSM, but lost 2 of their own in return. The 5 Assault man team lead by the librarian had a difficult time fighting the thousand sons, only managing to drop one man, but the thousand sons fought back well and killed two of the marines.
Thousand Sons Turn 2:
The Daemon Prince charged ever closer to the devastator marines, while the obliterator morphed a plasma cannon. The obliterator could not hit the devastators with the blast. The
CSM proceeded to clean up the rest of the assault marines with little effort. The Sorcerer and librarian became locked in combat, ending with the Sorcerer using his force weapon to banish the librarian to the warp. While the thousand sons beat down all but one of the remaining marines.
At this point, James conceded, having only a lone assault marine, and 3 devastator marines. It can only be assumed that the daemon prince had his lunch. It was a quick game, but really could have gone either way if it hadn't been for some of the more shocking dice rolls. I played one more game after this. Please let any comments and criticisms fly! I appreciate any and all feedback I can get.
