Hey Everyone,
Okay so I play Tyranids of course, and well i need some serious help painting my army. first off i did paint and plan to paint all my models with the primer black before anything.
I wanted the main color to be a dark blue. and i wanted the caraphaces to be either black or dark grey (im willing to change that). and basicly i tried to do that edge fade thingy and i feel like i failed.
so please throw up some help and tip on how to paint or if there are some tuts with some pretty progressive pics please let me know i am a noob i will admit it but im eager to learn and get better.
so thank you all for your time.

Hey,
Thank you for the help...after much consideration i am going to attempt a "Reverse" paint scheme for my nids since i went with SUCH a dark blue as my body color. so as far as progress i painted the carapaces the grey color completely and i will probably paint crevices of the body and accenting colors for the body in this brighter brilliant blue i have and ill also try to incorperate a medium tone between the two as well and i will see where that gets me...but of course i will test the idea on a gaunt first
so again thank you for your time and help =D

Just an idea, but you can layer that carapace to "feather" it and give it a nice blend without any difficulty.
Thats how ive painted my carapace to start with.
Just give it a heavy wash of badab black/nuln oil.
Highlight the edges again in the same grey, but not as thick so you have darker grey on the inside.
Wash it all again like before.
Do a final highlight of grey around the edges.
This gives you a nice blended look that takes a short time and has a nice finish to it.

I am actually fond of your color scheme, though it does look unfinished. Go back with a bit of white and add some sharp lines in on the grey. The dark blue looks odd because it's so shiny, like the carapace. I would reccomend making it matte and highlighting it a bit to give it some texture. You painted the blue onto the black, and the black's showing through, which is givint this a bit of a different tone than you might have been expecting

Well i found a kinda help video from MrWatchingPaintDry <----aka Paul from miniwargaming... and it gave me some ideas of what to aim for as far as a nid paint scheme so im kinda happy with my new direction...but yeah i have tried that "Feather" method and i uterly fail at it but of course that may be my HUGE lack of experience...so ultimatly i just weighed this out as its my first army and its my first time trying to paint it well so im bound to make mistakes.
but again thank you all for your input and help i really appreciate it
