Deadly Dark Eldar Warrior

Hi guys
OK so im kinda inspired by the new GW releases with the airships, can i just start by saying that im a massive fan of all air based conflict, my family have been in the RAF for generations and im hoping to continue the trend, however i digress suffice it to say all forms of planes and shootyness appeal to me greatly, the explosions and dakka going on make 40k seem much more exciting, one thing that always seemed lacking in the tabletop game is the air fights going on overhead, of which there are plenty of in both the fluss and novels. with these new releases and previous releases the fighters just seem perfect. Now i know the DakkaJet is getting some stick for being a tad pricey and somwhat useless i firmly believe that 6 supa shooters could put a massive hole in any form of opposition provided you paick and choose where and when you use it. To me this firmly compliments the attrition bases aspects of an Ork army, while the enemy is tied up with the hordes of ork boyz the Ork air force of stormboyz, deffkoptas and a couple of the new bombers or dakkajets it could be a winning combo. another idea would be to have some form of air-only game where stormboys can make attacks against vekicles in the air and other assault troops get involved. Maybe this is just me waxing lyrical but it seems very exciting, this coupled with the rumors of the 6th edition im practically salivating at he thought of the additions
-I think exiting times lay ahead
Thoughts/feelings guys? lets get some banter going
Many thanks
Kaptin Steve 'Skullkrumpa' Bond

They look like a hybrid between a mig 15/17 and the american fighter jets they fought against (I believe F-86's, dont quote me on that) in the korean war.
Not that i'm complaining, they look awesome. They look like looted, cobbled together deathtraps that have no business flying. Aka, they look orky as hell
I plan on getting at least one dakkajet, if not 2 and running them with a battlewagon list. They're just to orky to not bring. Plus the dakkajet looks like it could be really handy for killing light vehicles Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, shouldnt this be in general discussion?

Well there's this whole discussion going on about if they move 13" with RPJ, they'll be able to fire all their weapons and get a 4+ cover save.
I'm not so sure that's legit, so I'm going to wait a bit and see what happens with them. If they turn out to be decent I may go in and get one. They look like a blast to use though, that's for sure.

From what i've read they did have armor 11, which to me is still instant death.
I think fliers in the game are a bit weird in that they are acting like skimmers. I was fond of the older stuff where flyers were either landed on the board or did fly bys on certain turns.
The introduction of any new unit, especially a different category like these, changes the entire game. If done right I think we could have something good here. I just have to get used to them.

What do you expect, flying Land Raiders?
Oh wait...
Actual aircraft don't mount much for armour, because they need to be able to actually fly, huge thrusters or Waaagh energy notwithstanding.
They shouldn't have better armour than landbound APCs unless they are flying buildings like the Monolith.
AV 10 or 11 isn't Instant Death. Ask my DE or my Orks
It isn't very survivable, sure, and will get shot down quite quickly id people use anti-tank guns on it, which is why you take TANKS as well, to keep those guns occupied, The Jets are much like the Razorwing in the DE book. Fragile as hell, but there are generally better things to be shooting at on the field. Turbozooming until you are ready to attack, ot zooming on from Reserves to attack should let it get it's licks in befvore it dies.
Also, i intend to run at least one in my lists for a while just for sheer coolness factor. If it gets shot down, so be it. It's still a damn cool unit Automatically Appended Next Post: The ork ones are 10 all round
The Marine and Necron ones are 11

Who cares if its AV 11, you're missing the point of orks. We'll win with AV 11 flyers the way we win with 6+ boyz saves, going balls-out and drowning the enemy in numbers.
Now, is it better to take 3 AV 11 flyers or 9 AV 10 buggies. That's the real question in my head.

I don't think that it matters if they are particularly survivable, they are ork aircraft not thunderbird 2. its the same in all warfare, if theres adequate ground support the aircraft are stuffed, and afterall they are only cobbled together pieces of kit with an engine shoved on. Packing the weapons it does, potentially 6 supa-shooters (assault 3 ST 5) nids and chaos-daemon armies are gonna be bricking it. with the Waaagh! power you get 36 ST 5 shots and a +4 cover save to boot, how is that not useful? points wise its not that bad, 110 points for all that shootyness is a steal.
just my toughts

That's three, twin-linked super shootas.
Still awesome, but not as awesome as 6 un-linked ones, dakkawise.

Sure the models are AV 10, but they seem like a model people would bring just for the wackiness of it. Dakka Jet? Best Ork BS with TW supashootas. Burma Bomma? Perfect for taking on horde armies with the template weapons (yes, the rokkits count as templates ). Blitza-Bomma? Pure Ork goodness. I don't care what some of you say, they look fun to play.

As someone who plays as both the Tyranids and the Orks, I have to say that the Burna bomma inspires sweaty terror into my genestealer horde list. Just three of those could probably wipe out the better part of my troops slots in one go.

Just noticing a lot of confusion on the stats of these ork jets, so I'll post some of the basics just so everyone is on the same page.
1. The jets are AV 10 all around, NOT 11. This is a big dealbreaker for some so I'm sure this is important to somebody.
2. The twinlinked supa shootas are assault: 3 AP: 4, S: 6, not AP: 5, S: 5. These are a different weapon than the dakkagun and big shoota.
3. Supersonic lets them move 36" flat out instead of 24. Aerial Assault allows them to fire all weapons at cruising speed instead of just one. People are saying this combined with RPJ allows the dakkajet to move 13", count as moving flat out for +4 cover save, and still allowing it to fire all its weapons. Given that this is an ork plane and not a marine vehicle, it'll probably be nerfed in a faq soon

To be fair, killa kanz with grotzookaz do that, too. At almost 200 points for a model that any unit of lootaz or hive guard (or a dakka jet) can easily shake to prevent it from shooting, that's simply not worth it.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

Not sure what your talking about Jidmah.
The killa kanz with grotzookas, comprise a AI Kan wall and can decimate hordes.
The burna bomma is 125P unless your thinking of including all 6 Skorcha missiles, which I think is what you assuming.
Not sure on the next point how can you shake genstealers? Other than picking them up and shaking them

At 135 points you can get six small blasts at S6, which is a comparable damage output to a skorcha bommer, except that your weapons are not one-shot. If you are not including skorcha missiles, you can only fire one large blast per turn, which is not going to kill that much at all. S5 has to wound first, and it can scatter off target. In addition to all that, a bommer will always be in charge range of any unit it bombed, so there is no way it should survive to drop its second bomb. A burna bommer without skorcha missiles isn't dangerous to anything. I was not talking about genestealers at all. "Shooting" should have been a dead giveaway. My point was, that a skorcha bommer may not fire a single one of its blasts if it gets shaken - which is quite easy to do.
