Hey dudes.

Has anybody got any ideas how to recreate a jade effect for Sisters of Battle armour?

I'm thinking white spray base, then wet pallet greens with a wash or glaze to finish.

Any proper tips?

Here is a thread I started on marbling a few weeks ago that generated some great discussion: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/451166.page

There is also some discussion on jade. Most of the techniques discussed should apply, just with a different palette.

Two particularly useful tutorials mentioned in the thread were : http://www.gamedecor.com/abasworld/Tricks/painting%20tutorials.htm
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CEcQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DTQx-2GK2jgM&ei=meXMT5bIPKXV0QGChrGIDQ&usg=AFQjCNHLLrdpLD4tIiGDNNHNIDoHBKjQdw

Again, I think you should be able to apply a lot of those techniques to jade.

You are on the right track, I think. White spray base, wet pallet or stippled greens with washes and glazes to tie it in. I then like to finish with a final application of color for some additional pop.

do you wanna do solid jade or a glassy jade color?? because the last one will be extremely hard to do

I want to concentrate on getting the colour mixture and tones rights so that its recognisable jade rather than just a green. From there i'm thinking I could use gloss varnish to give it a glassyish effect if it was necessary. Its the variation in colours and shades that I want to achieve first though.

I'll defo check those links this afternoon though, thanks!
