Hey folks. As ive mentioned in a couple of post recently im was making some custom drop pods.

I wanted to make a cheap alternative and easy to put together version of the GW pod. I think altogether its cost about £2-3 to make and about 5-6 hours not inclueding glue drying time.

So here is the first one:

The body is a plastic cup - the fins/wings are foam core - the engine part on top is the top from a drinks bottle.

I drew some templates for the fins/wings and a template for the card on top to give it a bit of detail, also made a template for the doors on the body. I intend to make more of them so the templates will be used again.

Some pics of the process and comparing it to my original for size.

When you can't see the drunk guy at a party, you should look for the nearest mirror.

That's actually a neat looking alternative. Not exactly my cup-o-tea (my preference, no disrespect intended), but an excellent cash saver.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Imo, A damn good mock up of a GW drop pod. The Fins look great and i love the use of a poptop as an engine part. I feel that the doors/exit hatches need a bit of work though. Theres nothing really to tell you that thats what its supposed to be. No hinges on the top or bottom to denote the direction the hatch opens.

Aside from that, a solid conversion.
