Hello all, welcome to my first blog!

My new project is a White Scars bike army, and i decided to make it into a blog in order to keep me interested and keep you entertained (i hope). So, my first Ravenwing battleforce arrived today (Should have another next week ), and i jumped right into it.

Lots of sprues...

So, i made a start. Only have 1 biker build so far, i was going to paint it, to see how it looked, but it's raining here and i cant put a spray undercoat on, so i guess i shall build more bikers!

Here is my first.

That is a Tactical Squad shoulder pad from GW. I can use the Tactical Squad marker because with a captain on a bike these bad boys become troops, so it kinda makes sense.

Again, it's quite hard to make out, but that is the White Scars sign on the shoulder pad. Also i GS some tribal patterns onto the front of the bike. It was my first or second 'proper' attempt at GS, and i'm pleased with the result. I have another 3 ravenwing battleforces to buy, so if practise makes perfect, i'll be a pro by the end lol

And a front-ish view of the bike.

That's all i got for now. I will upload my progress later today (should have around 3/4 bikers done and 1 with a bit of paint).
I will do better pictures of painted models, i can get away with being lazy on unpainted mini's as there is really, no detail to see.

This is my list, if you are interested in seeing what i will eventually build: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/457639.page

Unfortunately, i cannot get outside to spray paint anything. I live in the UK, and it always rains... even in summer :(

I shall have more to offer your keen eyes tomorrow

I haven't done all that much in the past day. We got the NCIS season 1-6 boxset recently... man i love that show. But anyway, here is what i have done recently.

This is the first biker. Managed to get it primed yesturday, thanks to a slight break in the rain. I almost cried when i realised that in some places the primer was a bit too thick. Awell, live and learn. I definately wont make that mistake again.

This is the next biker on the production line. He is primed and ready to go as soon as i finish the first biker.

This is the army so far. 5 out of the 6 bikers in the battleforce is built. 3 are awaiting some GS, going to build the last biker before i get some GS done, just to reduce the waste, as i am terrible at judging how much GS i will need.

Thanks for looking in, I hope to get the last biker built tomorrow and the GS to be finished. Maybe i'll finish the first bike's paint job, but that depends if i watch several episodes of NCIS (I cant promise anything ).

Anyone know how to store mixed GS? If i have some left over, i dont particularly want to bin it. How do you suggest i keep it?

as i'm working with gs I almost always have some gs left. mostly I use it for pimping some bits in my bitzbox, just for fun.
I don't now how to keep it, just make something cool of it

Hi guys!

It's been a long couple of weeks, but i have a small update to offer. Like with all new projects, it takes time to learn and practise the new skills needed for the different paint scheme, these first three minis have been a little time consuming. Who knew you had to paint white 3/4 times to get an even cover!

Anyway, this first model, my Sargeant with a Power Fist and Meltabombs:

Generally, i think he is a good start. The white covers well in most, if not, all areas. Made a slight error with the GS on his right leg, i did the tribal pattern in GS, but didn't go around his leg far enough, so you can see a bit of white. Awell, live and learn.
I'm trying to keep these models WYSIWYG, so i glued the MB under the left handle bar, any other good places to put the MB?

Here is my second dude:

This was the first model i painted. This, as a test model, is pretty good imo. There IS alot to be desired, but practise makes perfect and at the moment, i can only get better

And the final one:

This is the most recently painted model. It is my favourite of the three. I actually remembered that i had alot of bits going spare, so i stuck on the pistol and purity seal, which turned out awesome.

A few details:

I'm proud of this. With my finest pen not getting to that level of detail, i picked up the brush and gave it a shot. And i'm sure as hell proud of that result

I like how this looks on the bike as a whole. No fine writing here, but definately one of the better purity seals i have done, despite the small amount of red that i spilled - defo going to clean that up!

Group shots:

Yes, i know there is a crack down the middle of the back of the sargent's bike. I painted the bike seperate to the banner, and i woulnd't glue in place, so i had to drill a hole up the banner pole and into the back of the bike, thus causing it to crack open. Next time, i will drill the hole BEFORE i paint it, so i can fill it with GS.

Anyway, that is my update all done. Not much for 2 and a half weeks of effort, but it's moving in the right direction.

Would love to hear your C&C!

Hi guys,

Been on holiday since my last post, so haven't done much.

Just wanted to say, that for my birthday (which was today - yay!) i got the Vallejo Game Colour paint set (with 72 paints, and 3 brushed). So i have tried a few new techniques for white. I must say, i found a cool way which i'm happy with

I use Uniform grey Spray Primer,
Coat of Wolf Grey then,
3:1 of Wolf Grey : Dead White
1:1 of WG : DW
1:3 of WG : DW
Then edge highlight pure white. The 1:3 mix is near enough white to make you 'think' it's pure white, but the edge highlights make the edges defined, unlike my previous models, who are caked in about 5/6 layers of white

Will upload a pic when i've finished the first model.

Thanks for checking in,
Zambro
