Hi,
I’ve been a longtime lurker and only registered last year to tell Space Corsair how awsome his sculpts are.
And now that I have those marvelous miniatures I will accompany the progress on them with this thread.

Well, how should I start?

I' ve been with it since the beginning, well since Rogue Trader days anyway.
Nevertheless I'm sitting here and thinking about adding a new thread to this forum. Space Marines, of course, as if GW didn't put anything else, with the exeption of the Imperial Guard, onto their shelves. But then again it's my 6th Marine army, please be not disillusioned, because that doesn't mean, that my painting has improved by an jota since I started to paint a citadel miniature, nor did my velocity ( or the absence of it).
My goal is to finish the 2nd Company –completely Rogue Trader models - of the Space Sharks by the end of the year. Only 30 Marines missing! And to start the 5th Company – completely female Marines – of Space Sharks!
Please be not suprised if my messages/updates are short, or nonexistent, for a week or longer, since my work requires a lot of travelling.

Oh, and most important of all, please forgive my spelling - I'm a lazy and illiterate italian

This is my current army (OK the pic is 2 years old - will update it shortly, as a lot is missing)

And this is my last squad I added this month:

Details:

The last Dreadnought I added this month:

But please no flamin' at all, I do know what GW says about this, but I don't care at all!
This is my army and i decide what i paint up and put into it!(OK whith the usual restrictions of the Codex:SM and IA books that is)

I have reached a point where the army is now really big (at least in my book), about 150 painted marines, and some armour, now I can add fun!
As the 2nd consists entirely of Rogue Trader marines and vehicles, the 5th will consist solely of female marines!

Enough words! PICS:

Here come the CHIKKAS of the 5th Company!!!

I personally wouldn't dare to call them that way if I weren't a Space Sharks marine!

GIRLPOWER!!

Hi mayajid, thanks for your kind words.
Thou it's taken me some years to get them painted!

The miniatures are from Space Corsair, he's got a thread on this very forum.:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/345483.page

His sculpting is ace! He's got the proportions definitively right IMHO.

Veteran Sergeant wrote:Lol. The regular Space Marine arms may not work out on those ladymarines unless they're being modeled as orangutans. Proportions are more than a bit off.

Hi Veteran Sergeant, the proportions are good. When you look at the sergeant and the banner bearer, as Space Corsair sculpted the arms. I was only too impatient to wait for smaler shoulderpads and use the old RTB01 arms or the scout arms he suggested. So it's my fault they look this way.
And GW warned us! No women with the Space Marines as they are geneticaly not indicated to support it! Did they already know what would happen?

40kFSU wrote:Damn man, you really make those Rogue Trader models look good!

Thanks indeed, so only 30 more and the company is completed! Hopefully they turn out as those.
Well next on the list is a assault squad on jetbikes!

Thanks cormadepanda! And especially for the great ideas on the arms! Since i have already undercoated this squad i wont be changing it. But the next ones will certainly profit from those ideas! Will put up WIP pics when starting on them. The idea with cutting below the elbow is really growing on me.

As i have some time at hand i thought that i might as well built up my army and take a pic.
Took me about 1 1/2 hour to search them and place them!

Well here you go after about 2 years a new army pic!

Saw with joy (translate: horror) that i have painted up 168 buggers, i mean marines, in grey. As well as some armour!
Admittedly i have never calculated the points after i reached the first 1500 points, as i constantly add to this army.

Thanks Brotheralexos, it is indeed one of those doublekits with the Baneblade and the Shadowsword of Armorcast!! Great eye!!
I painted it with the hairspray method. T'was my first try at it and i am rather pleased with the outcome. And it was also my first try at those pigments.

Thou i have a warning!! The nose art is from an american black widow of late WWII, if you are too young, please yust skip the pics!

Thanks very much indeed for your kind words Brotheralexos!

Now onto something quite unusual: An actual update!

When I tried to use the Tartaros pattern terminators I noticed immediately that they were petite and that they were designed with my 5th Company in mind!!
I had just overseen the subtle (OK, not so subtle) hint of Forgeworld! When I had a closer look at the upper body I finaly got it! It’s all in the name!! Tart-aros! Even if any of the Chikkas had a DD bosom she would still fit in!

If anyone of you is looking for a female Terminator armour don’t look further!!
This is the best you might get and it is from Forgeworld…thus no puny blackshirt in the galaxy can stop you from using it in the store!
…now…if someone could convince them to produce some Tart aros power armour…

The Space Sharks just call it “Tart” as any girl that goes into battle with it wants to lay some really bad guys by the heels!

That's what trendy girls wear this fall/winter!

Size comparison with a standard Terminator and a standard Space Marine.

Not an actual update, but got something great the other day!

Ordered from anti matter games from their deepwar game a tecno shark in resin as i thougt it might fit with my Space Sharks.
When i recieved it the other day i was more than impressed by the design and the quality!
Will use it as a jetbike/bike standin.
And here a size comparison pic with Bob, a standard Space Sharks marine:

As you might have noticed i have left off the weapons at the main fin, as i want to put on the usual bolters. For special weapons i will use magnets and put them onto the underbelly.
I have just 1 problem, as i don't know how to represent a powerfist...might have to use a powerclaw from a techmarine rig? Guess it might work.
Will defo not use the included base, also it is rather nice, but i want to put it onto a standard bike base (just want to avoid any probs with other gamers).

Fantastic! I like the dirt effect on his boots. 20 year hiatus from painting huh? Just like riding a bicycle no doubt. Looking good.

Thanks genom.cor, but i only didn't paint Librarians for that time. Instead i painted me some Marines and guard armies...about a thousand minis and more than hundred vehicles...

Doh! And an update, also only a small one!

Health sbotaged my life for some time ...
...until now, so i immediately used the chance and finished to put together the squad of female terminators for my Space Sharks and a great miniature from the past:
a Rogue Trader female adventurer, which was first described as female Space Marine!, yet in the tab they stamped SISTER!

As you can see i dremeled out the upper torso so that the head could fit in. I kitbashed the sarge so that i could use the great cape of Asterion Moloc.

I will paint her up as Librarian, as she already has the skull with horns on her shoulderpad. And also because the last one works great on the battlefield.

Well...found some time today to start with the Libby.

Tried to paint her a bit old school style, but i'm not completely sold to it...we'll see.

Just painted the armour, but i will give her one or two washes of blue just to unify the colours better and clearly some touch ups!

...and i finished paining her!Which is really fast by my standards!

As she is a Rogue Trader miniature she will be incorporated into the 2nd Company and being a Librarian into the Companies command squad.

Since i really suck at painting skin and faces i'm chuffed at how the face turned out!
Glad i painted her up as a redhead, it so suits her!

And i also based a squad, the 1st of the 2nd Company. All others will follow.

Well it wasn't to be, wanted to finish him the weekend.

So another Space Shark to join the ranks...
...easy, not yet! He's only missing his head. The rest is done.

Want to wait for those cool heads i ordered from Mad Robot!
So comming from the States across the pond that might take a few days.

That means this is just a WIP pic:

Looking at it am unsure if adding blood splatters or not, as i've never done anything like that and am hesitant
to ruin an otherwise good miniature. Hey, he's a Chapter Master after all!

Finally found some time and energy to put some miniatures together!

Recieved some great minis and accessories from Anvil Industries and some heads and weapons from maxmini!

The quality of the BLACK OPS is outstanding!!
The miniatures where completely flashfree and only one hole and that was under the sole of one of the sarge's shoes!
Also the accessories to customize the M-sries weapons fit perfectly!

I have already put together the whole squad and have still to add some of the great equipment you get with the squad. There will be a lot of pieces left for the bits box!!

Looking forward to put some paint on them on the weekend. Yet I'm undecided if painting them grey like the others or paint them in desert camo colours....ah decisions!!

What do you people think?

Well one had to volunteer for beeing test painted:

Only one wash and one highlight on the base colour....
Used the tamiya dessert yellow for the boonie and the webbing.
The pic on the right shows the "actual" colours as off now. All the other highlights/shades/weathering/pigments still missing.
I'm not completely sold to it, will sleep a night and look at it tomorrow again..hopefully satified.

Oh and yes Anvil Industry delivers those BLACK OPS with battle damage (bullet holes)!
(Hey, they're pros, they've seen it all even more than their other battle brothers!)

Well had some fun with the guns for the SEALS!!

Never put so much time into a "gun"...always used what i got in the kits, but this time i wanted to do something different.
Since i am used to customize the weapons in scale 1/35 modern military miniatures i thought why not give it a try! Especially with those great parts from Anvil Industry!!
Glad i did so, here the proof:

So first the who is who:

A: Anvil Industry Widowmaker Carabine
B: Maxmini M-series gun
C: Maxmini M-series gun customized with Anvil's accessories
D: Maxmini M-series gun customized with Anvil's accessories
E: GW standard bolter
F: Maxmini M-series gun
G: Maxmini M-series gun customised with Anvil's accessories
H: Forgeworld Heresy Meltagun with Anvils's accessories

1: Anvil's standard scope
2: Anvil's PEQ
3: Anvil's forward grip

To customize the Maxmini guns just cut the "grip" on the upper part of the M4s away and the magazine (red lines missing ), then use any acessory you like.
For example the scope. If you want to use them on Anvil's BLACK OPS you also need to cut the stock and grip where indicated.
There is however one miniature in the squad that comes with the gun already modeled at his side, since he will have a close combat weapon in his hand.
I dremeled mine away, but be careful if you do so as you might ruin the mini and eventually more...

For reference, where to place certain parts, just google M16 modern and i guess you might find some inspiration

As you can see in the first pic I already put on the Space Sharks transfer (middle figure). Have still to do a lot!
2nd round of touch ups, all grey and metallic parts, then start with the first filter, damages highlights of said damages...
painting weapons...and lastly faces, bases and pigments.

There is hope to finish them before I get the next BLACK OPS...

Another update!...thou not for the SEALS yet. They only need to get the bases done, otherwise they're finished!

Had a break from them yesterday night and tried to repair and put togehter some new RTB01 marines for the 2nd Company's Devastor squad.
It's only the sarge and the 5 "normal" marines of the squad first, the heavy weapons will follow soon.

Used some Forgeworld bits for the sarge. Sadly one can not see that the chainsword rests perfectly on the shoulderpad.
And most important of all a Mad Robot Miniature head!! The head with aviator sunglasses and the cigar is way too cool to miss!

Painting for those will start this weekend!

Just to prove that I really have painted those faces:

Please note that I fail at painting faces

Gee, it's taken some time, but it was fun! 't was a change to paint a squad in another colour then grey. Okay it's desert grey since they're Sharks.
And I feel my mojo comming back. Really enjoing now to paint the Devastor squad. After years of painting grey that was a healthy break!
To paint these Anvil BLACK OPS was a breeze and some more will follow! That's for sure!

Here you go with the pics:

And as I was elated to the max...also took some "action" ones:

Master Chief Hunokeli organising recon of Kasr Caverna, which led to the discovery of a hidden warehouse of the Astral Claws.
