Ok, after playing a couple games I've come to the conclusion that I might have to switch my tactic from 5th edition a little. I noticed that 6th edition now makes the game more objective based which means that we need to concentrate more on holding and capturing or denying.
With that in mind I've decided to move away from more of the whole "Rawr, I'm in your face. DIE! DIE!" to more of a defensive stance. Getting shot to death on the charge sucks, so I figured let them come to me and I'll shoot the hell out of them.
So without further ado,
HQ:
Captain Tycho - 175
Elites:
6 Sternguard - 2 Combi-Plasma, 1 Combi-Melta, 1 Lascannon and 1 Missile Launcher in a Rhino - 235
Brother Corbulo - 105
Chaplain - Jump Pack - 125
Troops:
10 Tac Marines Plasma Gun and Missile Launcher in a Rhino - 230
10 Tac Marines Plasma Gun and Missile Launcher in a Rhino - 230
10 Tac Marines Plasma Gun and Missile Launcher in a Rhino - 230

7/12/12 EDIT: Changed this list a bit. Took out the allies and Death Company Dreadnought, reduced the number of SternGuard and add Brother Corbulo, also added 1 more Tac squad. Stayed primarily with my main idea for a defensive list.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the Wolf Guard are Elites and I was under the impression that the Allies needed at least one HQ and Troop to be be taken.

Nope. The point of the list is to have the DC and DC Dread as an assault group. With fleet he should be able to make it across the board pretty quick. I've already tested it last night and he was mid field behind my Land Raider by the end of my first turn. That was running 6" with a re-roll (Rolled 4 and 2, re-rolled the 2 and got a 2). The Rhinos will be moving forward and grabbing objectives. Since Rage no longer forces movement I can hold the DC and DC Dread back to assault where I want them to or add more power to beat an opponent off one of my objectives.
EDIT: This list is more about field denial. As 6th edition has gone more to objective based missions you will be playing those more. If they can't keep an objective and I can. I win.

I just read the rule, you can take 1 hq and 1 -2 troops for allies, where do people see this elites etc thing from lol?

You didn't read the entire thing  What you're talking about is the MINIMUM you can take for allies.

Why take the 5 devastators with ML, when you could just take a 2nd longfang squad at 15 pts cheaper?
I have just got the book, dont own the SW codex, so I might be missing something but that looked like a better swap out since all I hear on these forums is how longfangs rock.
I will be doing a similar type list up, but with some kind of guard detachment. I am thinking 2 chimera's with melta vets will roll along nicely next to my rhinos. Not sure about your use of DC tho? I have mine in a rhino with CC weapons and a variety of power weapons. How do you implement them ? with no power weapon and no dual CC they are foregoing extra attacks and the ability to actually kill things. The main reason I am asking is I still have 5 more DC in an unopened box that I have been waiting for 6th to figure out how to fit them (differently obviously than my other 10 man group). Originally they were going to be vanguard vets and used to heroic intervene on squads I know they can beat up on.
What do you think ?

I love SW + BA for 6th, I'm in the process now of working my list and getting some BA models. Your list should be pretty fun to play.
I guess the only thing that would concern me is only 51 bodies at 2K points.. I'm not up to 2K with my list working, but think that at 1750 I have 55 guys at 1750. I'd just be afraid I'd go up against some army with tons of blast templates (IG for example) in 2K and you'd be down to 30 guys by turn 3, will make it hard to play objectives.
ever think about running a reclusiarch (or astorath) instead of tycho and the dreadnought and getting some more death company? give you more bodies and more mobility.....just an idea.

The entry for DC allows either boltgun or bolt pistol without any price change. Which have you decided to take?
You did mention wanting to move away from assaulting to shooty/defensive style. The DC could fit a unique roll here. Rapid fire boltguns for taking advantage of the 6th edition friendliness to shooting. However, the statline of 2A and +2 on the charge would make for a strong counter charge when the opponent gets close enough.
Nevertheless, the jump packs seem to indicate forward motion. Are you going to run the pistol and ccw to maximize attacks?
At any rate, I am very interested in keeping up with your progress, success, and lessons learned. I love the fact that 6th edition has broadened the range of models which are appealing in a list. Tactical Marines and Sternguard in a BA list, I love it!

My 5th edition list consisted of 17 bodies. 5 Marines in 3 razorbacks a Librarian and a priest. 51 bodies is a lot more than I use to run with. Since you can't claim an objective inside vehicles anymore, 5 marines just isn't enough. The reason I ran Tycho is for challenges. 3-4 attacks that ignore armor on I5 and 2+ armor saves and 4++.

I intend on using Bolters. That way I can take advantage of their relentless special rule and their still 4 attacks on the charge. The jump packs are for mobility. If I need them to beat someone off an objective, or just deny it at the last second, or need them for a counter charge I'll be able to get there.

My first choice was Necrons and I may still use them at some point. IG was definitely another thought. Taking the SW was simply for the Long Fangs to add more Missile Launchers without sacrificing my Vindicators.

You are limited to 1 Heavy choice as an ally. Or I most definitely would have taken more.

I like this list. I'll have to modify it a little, as my group doesn't regularly play 2000 point games. DC is a lot more attractive to me than they were in 5th edition.

Hydra Flak tanks can't split their fire. I thought about them. The Long Fangs would also be easier to hide in cover.

I didn't think about the Hydras all having to fire at the same target. Point conceded. The Long Fangs are most probably superior for that reason.

You can replicate your lists characteristics for a cheaper in points more shots space marine vanilla army. BA is an assault arny, and if your not going to assault with it IMO dont play it because your not using its strengths.

Your not allowed. You can only use 1 allied heavy support choice.

I meant to address this earlier and forgot. I'm foregoing the 1 extra melee attack per model to shoot twice at 24". So move up, shoot 10 shots, jump pack in and impact, take my 20 swings. If i felt like repainting my entire army or had the money to buy a whole new set of models then paint them, I might consider this. But then i wouldnt have Tycho, the death company or the death company dreadnought.

Fast vindicators are nice too.
Are you paying for the storm bolters? (I forget what the base cost of a BA vindy is)
now that weapon destroyed is random, storm bolters got better.

If you want the devs / long fangs only for shooting down aircraft, why not take your own aircraft instead?
Drop the death company, drop the long fangs, drop the devastators... take a pair of stormravens. Drop the tac marines for assault marines in rhinos, and use dual plasma guns, 2x plasma pistols on sarges.

Check your rulebook under the missile launcher entry. It's lists Frag, Krak and Flakk.

Not to mention the point cost and the monetary cost. Everything has its place in this list. Including the Tac marines how I have them geared out.
