So i was look at making a strach built turrent and was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips on how to do this? I also do have some materials in mind to build it such as using the maticore box set, some metal tubing from the local hobby shop, and plastic card.

I used the Tactical Missile turret from Old Crow with some of the excellent 50mm long RFAC barrels they also make. I've also seen a really nice Hydra (that I may have to "borrow") using the new Puppetswar Gatling Turret Mk2. Puppetswar also do a manned quad RFAC turret that is very WW2 AA and rather funky.

In terms of scratch building, I guess the things to keep in mind are: Large ammo capacity; several large RFACs; some kind of advanced targetting array (radar, sensor, mk1 eyeball of operator).

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

If you're refering to Puppetswar it is a Polish company but he you'll have any order you make in a lil over a week probably less if you're shipping anywhere in Europe. But if you are actually looking to completely scratch build your own Hydra turret than my suggestion is to look at pictures of anti air vehicles from World War II til about 1980 and then pick one you like and go from there.

And the conversion Flinty was talking about from the mkII turret is this, and he was right about the cerberus turret being a lil funky looking, while the cannons are nice the mount is just weird looking.:

PS. Flinty I would actually be flattered if you "borrowed" my conversion.

The Quad gun from the Aegis Defense Line makes a pretty decent Hydra.

I stole Flinty's Old Crow turret conversion idea but used a Chimera chassis instead of a Rhino.

Old Crow is an English company.

The conversion by Flinty (that I used) is more difficult than other methods such as the Aegis Quad Gun. It is nice to have a unique model though.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

I used the Old Crow multi-missile turret with 4 50mm cannon barrels - and scratchbuilt a hull (chimera shaped) for mine.

This turret:
, with the barrels from JB's conversion.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

@Guarder22 - Thanks for linking your work again. I couldn't remember who had done it I'm thinking I need an Aegis quad cannon (also the radar dome makes me feel all funny)
