Hi, this is my latest model to be completed. It is a homemade Imperial Bastion.

It was made using nothing but card and matchsticks.

I have 5 other additions for the bastion which are in the post as I type, 4 heavy bolters for the bastion and a quad gun emplacement on legs. As soo as these items arrive I will make the housing for the heavy bolters and stick them on and the Quad gun will sit happily on the top.

I wanted to make it slightly bigger than the official model so I added an extra level and also made the eagle head section that stares out towards the enemy!

Hope you like it.

Photos are a bit to dark, but the model in it is very well done.

It lack some details (rivets and borders). Do you used any templates to do this?

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...
My take on Demiurgs (enjoy the reading):

Please, if you think im wrong, correct me (i will try to take it constructively).

I didn't include rivets as I wan't attempting to reproduce a relica bastion but my interpretation of one (and more importantly a free one).

I didn't use templates ither than what I could see from looking at pics online of an actual GW bastion.

All guess work and some trial and error but not much :-)

Had to build one as it is needed in an upcoming tournament. I am going to road test it tomorrow, 1750 pts Crimson fists vs Tyranids.

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

Looks amazing! Good job! What did you use to build it?

Card, matchsticks, paper and PVA! Oh and paint obviously but that was it. Took me all yesterday and painted this morning.

Aegis defence line next I think.

That is magnificent for a homemade bastion! I wanted to make one myself from scratch, but considered the shape/dimensions of that bottom portion to be tricky and possibly time consuming so I never did. Your work gives me inspiration!

Yeah it was a mare! Here is the side shape of the base

The blank triangular holes that are left I covered with paper.

Its even more impressive now that I see the shape you had to cut the bottom into. Did you find instructions somewhere on line?

They make them because they are a business and you are their customer. Whilst there is a necesity to buy the figures, I'd struggle to make them out of card, I don't want to spend my money on buildings that I can make resonably good versions of myself.

There was a time when GW used to make cardboard cutout scenery themselves.....and also I have 2nd and 3rd edition Codicies that encourage the gamer to scratch build scenery....now its all about capitalism, covering their overhead costs and sticking it to the consumer.
