Overview of Eldar Empire before the fall.

This is Velvet Goldmine, 120 Days of Sodom, Lolita, The Story of O, and Emmanuelle in Space... oh, and, Debbie Does the Galaxy.

Overview of Humanity during the Dark Age of Technology.

This is going to be, basically, Star Trek, Star Wars, Dune, Battlestar Galactica: Caprica, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers all smashed together.

War between Humanity and Iron Man.

This is Terminator and Battlestar Galactica smashed together.

Original war between Necrontyr and Old Ones.

Covered in Codex:Necron in sufficient detail to know the important bits.

-Creation of Orks and Eldar, and possible the beginning of Humanity.

The first two are covered in Codex: Necron.

@Psienesis

I already know about all of these, I want more in-dept information, literary a book for each and every thing with the smallest details about these events in it.

Considering that these events are not, in any way, original to the 40K universe and, in fact, are based on the works of other authors, I don't believe copyright law is going to permit such things to be written.

After all, if you basically re-tell the story of the Cylon War, or the Terminator Judgement Day/Rise of the Machines, and yet just change a few names around... that's not kosher. These are concepts and themes already in someone else's possession.

The Pre-Fall Eldar Empire? It's depraved porn. Non-stop depravity, gratuitous xeno boinking in ways the human mind has not yet formulated a way of envisioning, with a very small community of what are basically the Amish Space Elves shaking their heads, wagging their fingers, and building some psy-plastic arks to get the hell out of Dodge on.

C'Tan/Old One War. It's a war like pretty much every other war, except that instead of blowing up tanks left, right and center, they're blowing up entire planets left, right and center. Advanced Mathematics and Theoretical Physics are rendered into weapons-grade equations, and then flung across space to waste some dudes. I mean... it's a war-story in a setting that is nothing but war stories. How different can it be, really?

The Dark Age of Technology is every single other Science Fiction property known to Man written in the 18th through 20th centuries. Visit your local library, it will have all of these books available for you, because GW can't have someone in BL re-write stuff that someone else wrote decades ago, and may still be on the television in syndication.

40K is not an original setting in its foundations or its references, but it has managed to synthesize those sources into a fairly unique, original-ish whole. That's... kinda the point of having this no-established-canon setting. As individual players and GMs, we're free to look back on its sources to draw more inspiration from, or to focus on the bits that we like best and bring those elements to the fore, while downplaying or entirely discarding the parts of the background that we don't like.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Details on 2 missing Legions and their Primarchs pretty much has to top the list

What would happen if the Golden Throne fails and the Emperor dies, but the Star Child prophecy comes true and the Emperor is reborn to start the Great Crusade II: This Time It's Personal.

If it's true that Cypher really is trying to get to the Emperor, let's see him make it there.

If all the Eldar are finally killed and they get their new god they think will be born out of the Infinity Circuits.

If Isha somehow gets free of Nurgle and/or Khaine gets reformed and/or Cegorach stops being a pansy and hiding, so the Eldar get a bit of divine protection again.

Just how many Tyranids there really are, and if it's true they are fleeing something from their home galaxy, just what the frak would be powerful enough to scare them away.

Missing Primarchs return, especially since most of them have such stupid reasoning for taking them out of the story. Russ just randomly leaving, Vulkan wanting to play hide & seek, Corax leaving alone just because he feels guilty, Khan chasing Dark Eldar into the webway. The Lion being perfectly fine is probably the biggest facepalm. Wake his ass up! The argument is that it'd make the Imperium too powerful. Well, this is 40k, make everyone else more powerful, too! Let's see some of the Chaos Primarchs doing something with their time for once. Angron got banished for 100 years about 500 years ago, the only thing Mortarion has done since the Heresy is kill a Grey Knight Chapter Master and have Draigo carve the guy's name into his heart, Lorgar locked himself away to meditate for thousands of years, Fulgrim is AWOL... I mean come on, the Primarchs are all awesome, let's bring them all back!

 LoneLictor wrote:
I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Honestly... no

A lot of the appeal this game has for me is that is that it intentionally omits too much detail (or did before the newer codices).

The two unknown Primarchs should always remain unknown so that you and I (players) have a little wiggle room in our imaginations. I am already tired of the Ultramarins and Blood/Dark/Piss Angels.

Every writer worth their salt can tell you that words will only take you so far. The best way to tell a story is to start it... and give just enough detail for the readers' imagination to fill in the gaps... to make it real for them.

The best example I can give is the Emperor. What happens when he "dies"? Is it the end? Is he reborn? Who knows.

Chaos players want to believe that the Emperor is a false god, that he is just a human after all (however powerful) and that in the end, Chaos will triumph.

Imperial players want to believe that the Emerper is basically God and will never truly die, that he watches and protects us even in "death".

But if GW was to write a store that explained any of this... it would ultimately make one of the two parties "right". The other side would lose interest and they would do a great harm to their playerbase.

Some things are better left unknown. Every codex is written this way, deliberately giving you different information than the others s othat they let you feel justified in playing them.

The same is true on some level in every codex.

I tell you the worst thing that ever happened to 40k so far was the release of the new Necron Codex... it took all the lore and background that existed in the Eldar Codex and said "meh, that didn't really happen... what really happened was THIS BS".

If that trend continues, I will lose interest, as will many other players. GW knows this (I hope). So should you

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?
