[1999+1]

Deploy the Aegis Defense Line in three parts - one for each Long Fang squad. The squad with the Terminator gets an extra piece or two, ensuring they get good cover as well as good avenues of fire. The WGBL & Squad, along with the Rune Priest if needed (or he can Pod in, depending), will Outflank, which is made better with Acute Senses.

The four Grey Hunter Pods all arrive on the first turn, with the empty ones arriving whenever. The Quad Gun can help a bit with flyers, as well as the fourteen Krak missiles per turn - translating into about two hits or so, which isn't too stellar, but is as good as Wolves can do without Allies.

Overall, 60+ Power Armor bodies and a Terminator with rather good Psyker defense seems pretty good. Vehicles are covered with Melta and Krak, infantry with Bolters, Frag, and close-combat. The Plasma, Rending, Fists, and Axes can help with 2+ saves.

The WGBL with the 2+/3+ should hopefully help the squad survive a bit longer, but with four Drop Pods in their face on the first turn, hopefully they will be somewhat distracted anyhow. Also, five scoring units should be awesome.

Also, which list looks better - this one or my Loganwing list. What looks most competitive?

Thoughts?

<3 MLs Nice list, I myself can't wait for flakk rounds but I Might suggest adding a couple scouts if they are available to SW.

Looks good! I have been toying around with DP lists myself and am eager to hear how this performs.

Any more words on the list, folks? At the critical point of investing in models and am unsure if this or my Loganwing would be most competitive. Any input would be great!

I don't have my Codex with me, but I think you can only fit 10 people in a Wolf drop pod.

The list looks really cool! if I had the drop pod I would run this list and tell ya how it worked.

Also, I had a friend that would make very good use of Njal in this drop list. Have him hit T2 so that you get a better roll on his table, he will be in range for the table to be effective, and in range for his 3+ hood. It’s a lot of points but just something to consider.

I think you should trade up your WGBL for a wolf priest with Saga of the Hunter. The wolf priest is better because he provides preferred enemy to the squad with the plasmaguns - which is better than divination because you don't have to roll a psychic test every turn. That way, you can put your rune priest with the Long Fangs and use his divination powers there. He also has Ld 10 (better than the WGBL) for counter-charging and makes the GH's fearless. Try this...

Wolf Priest + Runic Armor, Saga of the Hunter (130 points)

He doesn't need a storm shield because he comes with a free 4+ invulnerable save.

Are you getting drop pods for your Long Fangs just so that you can land 4 GH units on turn 1?

@sickening - yes it is ten. None of my squads exceed

@grugknuckle - the Rune Priest helps with psychic defense too and the limited range is why I want him close to the enemy. I do think I will look into the Wolf Priest - didn't even realize he could take SotH. Thanks for pointing that out!

The Long Fangs deploy out of the Pods to allow me more units in Reserve and the empty pods allow me to bring in all of my full ones on turn one.

I believe all the wall pieces of the ADL have to be connected/touching...

Then drop the RP with one of the GH squads. That way he'll be there on turn 1 to provide psychic defense and he's guaranteed to be as close as you like. Furthermore, you won't be doubling up with the Wolf Priest - if you decide to take one. You really should though. Preferred enemy allows you to re-roll all dice rolls of '1' to hit AND to wound in shooting AND close combat. That bonus alone is going dramatically out weigh anything that WGBL can provide - especially when paired with rapid firing plasmaguns.

One more thing. If you're giving your wolf guard pack leaders a power fist, then you should give a power sword to your GH squads. However, I think you're better off saving the 60 points for 4 power weapons on the GH squads - MotW + standard is enough. Use the points to add two more missile launchers (or plasma cannons) to your long fangs.

Not as written. One piece must only touch one other piece.

I am re-working the list. I will post it later.

I'd second the wolf priest or go with a second rune priest, that can be nasty if both have JOWW in pods. I did a similar list a few weeks ago, looks like alot of fun

So, some differences. I think it could work. The big flaw of Drop lists seems to be flyers - so this has the Hyperios emplacements to deal with them. Skyfire, Interceptor and Heat Seeker with S8 should do the trick, I feel. Each of the trio of missile launchers can fire on a separate target, too. Furthermore, with the trio of Long Fangs deploy (and the CML Terminator), you get 14 missile shots per turn at 6 targets - so that will strip down hull points or outright trash most vehicles or put a hurting on hordes with a vast amount of frag missiles. The Wolf Priest and a 10-man GH squad Outflank and cause issues with the enemy. As a scoring unit, they should pose a huge headache, since another ~36 PA Wolves are in their face the turn prior. A good array of weapons - plasma, melta, and flamer - makes it an all-comers style list for tournaments.

What do you guys think? Good? Competitive?

I think your second list is amazing. You did well to come up with an anti air option and the list is excellent at throwing a wrench into enemy tactics. I look forward to seeing how it does gameplay wise.

Yea, until I can find a cheap, easy way to do those stupid Hyperios Launchers (and Command Platform), I will be running the original list most likely. I have considered buying just the Command Platform, casting the base, and buying some third party missile launchers to use (Bitspudlo). Marginally more affordable, I suppose.

So, I drew up a version missing the IA unit so I can take it to tourneys beyond the local area that allows that stuff (and because its expensive and I don't own it yet!).
