ALLLLLRRREEEEET , this here be my first post. Hooray for me. Anyway, I'm relatively new to war gaming and am slowly developing my painting/modeling skills. Have just finished this old space marine bike using an experimental formula which includes kitty litter (which I ground up with my wife's mortar and pestle) and am quite pleased with the results. So I thought I'd finally charge out of the trenches (commissar's bolt pistol to my head) and open myself up to the blaze of opinion from your good selves. Any comments/praise/criticism/tips are welcome!
Mucho Gracias,
Sam

It's looks nice.
I ve tried mud on my WIP renegade guard and it's looks quite realistic and good.
Though I used Armageddon dust from GW range.
What is the technique you used on that bike?
Though GW texture looks better when ou paint it over.

Kitty litter, huh? Looks really good! What's the exact formula? Are you mixing it up with water effects or PVA or what?

That is a fantastic mud technique. It is thick and inconsistent in texture, the color is just right, and it has a glossy sheen to it. Excellent work....and your painting isnt bad for being a beginner! If your a Dark Angels player, that new Vengeance set would be a real nice addition with alot of models for the price!

Wow, wasn't expecting such quick responses, reckon I'm going to get addicted to this forum ma'larky! Cheers for all the comments.
For the mud mix I used PVA glue, a little water and ground wood pellets (kitty litter). Mashing the pellets myself, by hand, made for uneven chunks and when mixed it looked a bit like porridge which i just liberally slopped on to the bike. When it dried I just brushed off the loose bit leaving behind what you can see on the bike!
For paint, Vermin brown followed by Bestial brown followed by Calthan brown, followed by scorched earth. Then washed with Devlan mud.
I think I'll post some step by step when I do some more this week!

Dark Angels bikers are black, traditionally.
Good mud though; very convincing.
