I went into my local GW store to pick up a copy of the Dark Vengance boxed set today and they had a few extra goodies for sale. There's a Dark Angels beanie hat with a peak and wrist bands for Dark Angels and Chaos. The hat was £5 and the wrist bands were £2 each.

Hi guys, I've just written a review of the box for Tale of Painters if anyone is interested. Click my sig, or this link here.

If reading reviews isn't your thing, how about a discussion. In my review I mention how there are no painting guides or detailed fluff what so ever about Bane's Landing where the conflict is held. Is this a ploy by GW to get us to buy the ibooks painting guide app and the Hard Back novel or are they just keeping things simple for the newbies?

With the cost involved in making that character on its separate sprue, I cannot believe we will not see another iteration of it at a later date.

I would have thought that they'd make it a direct only item that you can only order on their site. The limited edition bow would still be special because it has his stats card.

I remember the days when that Chaplain would have been given away for free on the cover of WD instead of snaffled away for a limited edition.

...shortly after the wheel was invented.

Seriously though, it feels just that long. Kirby needs to leave GW once and for all ASAP. I call for an Exterminatus on all GW chairmen!

Oh come on...what do you want them to pay us for playing!?

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The obvious down side of that is that you're stuck with a White Dwarf.

For a nice looking mini, I'd put up with a bit of space taken up in my recycling bin. That stuff goes out every week anyhow.

There is a big question in the mind of chaos players. What are the rules like for the hellbrute and chaos cultists in comparison to a chaos dread and guardsmen?

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Not only that, but how their point costs compares to those other army entries.

Hurray, Chaos and Chaos lite. Seriously though the models look great. I still think the price is a bit much but at least there is no finecast in there. I was a little afraid that the Chaplin was finecast crap.

Just forgot what I was going to say.

Nice thanks. Are the cultists the same leadership and armor save? They look less armored than guardsmen.

Bought 3 of the LE boxed sets. Each is supposed to have one chaos sprue, one DA sprue, and two cultist/tac sprues along with the LE Chaplain sprue.

First box: 1 chaos sprue, 3 DA sprues, one LE Chaplain sprue.
Second box: 3 chaos sprues, one cultist/tac sprue, one LE Chaplain sprue.
Third box: 3 DA sprues, one cultist/tac sprue, one LE Chaplain sprue.

Seems silly to need 3 boxes to get one full set. I've got one tac squad, and a bunch of chosen without packs. Lots of termies. The Hellbrute is for all intents and purposes a mmelta/fist dread without a stormbolter/hvy flamer option. If they don't get dreadclaws in the Chaos codex, and the things still go crazy on occasion, who's going to want a hellbrute? Should make a nice oblit though.

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...

Not sure if mentioned in one of the million other threads, but the chaplain is not a push-fit model, so keep away from the wee ones and those who are not allowed to handle glue.

Wow, crazy. My 3 boxes were fine, except I got some some sort of warehouse/shipping slip packed inside one of the boxes.

I checked over the display models at my local GW and am amazed at the quality of detail on starter set models.

If this is the intent of GW with the Chaos release, there might be a second army in my future.

I grabbed the sample of the painting guide, looked at it then deleted it....personally think it was a pretty terrible way of painting DA's.

Pretty happy with the set, loved how it had the old school reference sheets again

The ideas for the first two missions being solo is a pretty cool idea imo

So you are missing 4 x cultist/tac sprues. Wow, that is really bad. At least you got your three LE Chaplains...
I think you will make out like a bandit after calling GW to get the missing sprues, assuming you want lots of DAs.

I like it over all there are some very fragile bits on the spruces that I couldn't clip out without damaging them. Namely the DA commander head. Be very careful when you do you're or their liable to snap of the tips.
