This guy accompanies my Salamanders Sternguard retinue with Divination, hence all the runes and blessings.
He is the last model I will paint for quite a while as I am moving abroad in 2 days time, so I tried quite hard.
Red was a totally new concept to me as I had never ever painted it before. So I tried 2 layers of Mechrite Red with a layer of Red ink, Devlan Mud and Nuln Oil.

He looks a lot more glossy on this than in reality, probably because I took it with bright sunlight beaming onto it

This Is Where the Fish Lives

A couple of things:

-Remove those mold lines and drill the bolter holes; most people that will comment will say both of those things. They are two simple things that make your models look a million times better. The major ones that stand out: cables behind the elbows, top & front of the storm bolter, and top of the sword arm.

-Thin your paint... it is way too thick. Also, when using a wash, go back with the original color and reprint anything that is not supposed to be shaded (i.e.- all the flat raised areas). Add some different colors to the storm bolter. Things like the magazine and receiver look good painted with metallics (they would be made out of metal in "real life"). Right now it looks unfinished.

-My major issue is that nothing about him says "librarian." Librarians typically do not wear a helmet because they wear a pyschic hood. Look at some of the librarian and Grey Knight models to get an idea of what it looks like. Librarians also predominantly wear blue armor, usually with one shoulder pad painted in their chapter color with chapter iconography. The varies from chapter to chapter, with some in full on blue and others with less, but you should be able to look a the model and say, "Oh yeah, that is a librarian."

-Hit hat bad boy with some matte varnish!

All in all, keep up the good work!

And some, I assume, are good people."

he looks fine in my opinion, but my standards are quite low but thats me. like ScootyPuffJunior said does not really ring "librarain" more blues would make him stand out more.

on the Positive sides I like to see that your tried highlighting him even thou its a bit thick. He is kinda interesting too look at thou in a way. For your next model I would start working on thinning your paints and making highlighting softer. Just little bit of highlighting makes a large difference.

Is the robe custom? cause it is quite nice.

Overall: Not a badly painted model in my eyes, but not a amazing model. Still looks nice thou. I have seen worse models, (my first batches had only 3 colours ).

Yeah I haven't removed mold lines on any of my models, I will start on my sternguard models when I make them but I eventually plan to totally overhaul the look of my army, because at the moment they're just tabletop standard.
