Hey you guys!

For anyone who has thought of wanting to try out Infinity, or just play some games, a friend and I are running an introductory event at Total Wargamer on Saturday October 20th - full details below!




This event is designed as an easy introduction for anyone who wants to give the game a try! Or, perhaps someone who has collected some of the miniature range but not taken that step of having those miniatures duke it out on the tabletop!

The games will be taking place all afternoon on a specially constructed-for-Infinity City-Scape, featuring some of the latest range of Micro Arts and Sarissa terrain products.

Miniatures will be supplied for the games, with players able to choose from 5 different factions (Aleph, Haqqislam, Nomads, Yu Jing and the Pan Oceania Knightly Order). But, please feel free to bring your own if you already have a collection!

We will be running introductory games designed for people who have not played before, and also some 'fun' games later in the afternoon.

The event is being sponsored by Corvus Belli, who will be supporting the event with the promise of goodies for anyone coming along and taking part!

The store is a real Aladdin's cave, with a wide range of different wargaming and miniature products, and now a recently expanded playing area!

So we hope this will be a chance for anyone local (or not so local!) to have a fun day out! Also, to help build a focal point for Infinity players who live in the vicinity of the South West, and hopefully act as a precursor for future events!

A drive through the scenic Cotswolds, a fun introduction to one of the most fresh and vibrant games on the market, and a visit to a shop that would be worth a trip by itself! We hope we can make the event a worthwhile day out and welcome anyone who would like to come along.

I need to learn to drive...would be great to be a part of this Pacific, but its not going to happen this time around

Huge Kudos on running an event of this scale however, i will be looking out for events like this in the future!

Also, next time, can you please not have both these big events on the same weekend/day? Because i will want to attend both

Hey Revenent Reiko, really sorry to hear that you can't attend this event! And yes, with the way that the public transport system is here in the UK you really need to get a car! If this one proves a success I'm sure we will run something similar in the future however.

Regarding the event, there is something I really need to make clear!

I was contacted by IJW, a user both on this forum and the official infinity one (who has done a lot to promote Infinity throughout the UK, with various events) and it seems that I've managed to organise this event for the same weekend as his own, taking place in Exeter! Doh!

However, it's important to note that the scope of our events is very different. The 'Infinity Begins' event, posted above, is aimed at beginners of the game, or those who want to try it for the first time. Of course we will welcome anyone who knows what they are doing, and simply would like a game on the terrain at the event, but at the risk of shooting myself in the foot (with a Combi-rifle, no less!) if you are experienced and want a more in depth - event driven weekend (that is far more inclusive) you will be better off going to IJW's event, The Infinity Autumn Challenge in Exeter.

So, just to make it clear, our event at Total Wargamer is focused on the beginner/newbie, perhaps also the inexperienced player, who just wants to give the game a try for a few hours on the Saturday afternoon. Everything is supplied to play, so you only need to bring yourself! (Although, please feel free to bring your own collection if you would like to use it). It's going to be some casual, fun games in a great playing environment.

I'm far from knowing/saying I can attend, but making it to Evesham is a lot easier and cheaper for me than Exeter (and frankly, I'm far too much of a newb to attend a tournament event), so two questions:

When does the day end?
Is there any entry fee?

OK MarcoSkoll, in answer to your questions:
- It's starting at around 12PM, but there will be various demo/starter games starting throughout the day. No fixed ending time, I would guess probably around 5-6pm or whenever the shop closes!
- There is no entry fee.

Hope that helps! Basically, if you have ever attending a GW demo day or starter/intro game, you will have some idea of what it is like (although you won't have any sales pushed on you afterwards ). Just a relaxed atmosphere to try the game out, learn the basics and perhaps take your own models for a spin if you have collected but not played before.

Aww thatnks Pacific, it sucks as i could really do with having an intro game or two, but im sure it will go great and you will be able to get another beginners weekend on the go some time soon (please?)..

Holy heck! Paul is going to do Infinity at last? Yay! How did I not know this?

I live about 20 minutes away and am going to try to get permission from SWMBO to be there all day. I will also see if I can't drum up attendance from the local wargaming community. There's a bunch of us at my club in Gloucester that plays, and I know there's a lot of interest at the Watched Warchiefs and at Red War Soc.

I believe there is the possibility of another event taking place on the same day as well, so there should be plenty to see and do!

Just for the sake of it, another event poster this time with a sci-fi samurai, who I'm assured will be making an appearance!

So I saw South West in the title, thought ooh I might be able to make that. We obviously have very different ideas of what constitutes the south west

Any chance of doing another event a bit further south in the future? I'd love to get along and meet some more Infinity players

Haha right, I know what you mean! It's kind of like referring to Birmingham as 'up north', which I suppose it is to most people in the South, but then anyone in Newcastle or the like would be flabbergasted at the idea!

Would definitely be interested in doing some other events in the future, depending on how this one goes! And hopefully by that point I will have a Harrison Ford-esque mini to put in your Noodle Bar

Really I hope it can try and make the shop act as a focal point for players in the South West (well.. South West Midlands! ) for Infinity. As PrecinctOmega has pointed out to me, there are some other clubs and whatnot, but at the moment no bricks & mortar shop selling the stuff within several hours drive of this area, which I think is a terrible shame. Especially in light of how Infinity seems to have grown exponentially over the past couple of years! So really hope we can get the ball rolling at Total Wargamer, and I know the chap running the store is very keen on helping out!

Otherwise though I know IJW is running a campaign event in Exeter though the same weekend, which might be more local for some (and is also set up for established players) - there are details in the 2nd post in this thread.

Yeah, IJW is definitely the man to talk to about Infinity events in the "proper" South West.

I now can't make this as apparently I have promised that we'll go to visit my parents that weekend. Darn parents! I'm 37 years old and still they stop me doing what I want!

However, I'll definitely be up for joining in some Infinity gaming evenings at TW any time!

I should re-iterate at this point that the event is being supported by Corvus Belli, who have sent a rather generous box of stuff to be given out to anyone taking part !

Hey guys, well a big thanks to everyone who attended the event on Saturday, and I hope you enjoyed it!

It was Martin & my own first time at demoing the game, so thanks for being gentle also!

Following on from this, we are hoping to have another event in 5-6 weeks from now (perhaps 1st or 2nd weekend of December) although that is only a preliminary guess.
The next event will be a mix of introductory and starter event, so for players with a force of around 150pts playing a series of scenarios made by Martin and myself (most likely pillaged from the new Paradiso book ). However, there will also be some forces provided so you will be able to turn up on the day and play for the first time if you have not done so before (as in this event!)

Total Wargamer was an excellent venue for the event, very accommodating, and are more than happy to host further events in future! Hopefully some people who weren't able to make it this time will be able to attend the next event.

Hopefully i will be able to make it up there sometime soon (maybe for the next one....hopefully at least).

Glad to hear it went well. My regrettable absence was down to being so exhausted the night before I didn't have the energy to make sure my bike was in working order (such that I could get from the train to the store) and I didn't really want to chance a breakdown.

I will still try and fit future events into my schedule as possible though. (However, I can say that the 1st weekend in December would be a definite no-go for me, as I'm running an Inquisitor event that Saturday.)
