I was just brainstorming guard regiments for a friend, and I had the idea of a form of tunneler regiment using the hades breaching drill with veteran squads. I was just curious as to what guardsmen models I should use to represent them, that look all tunneler-y.
I was thinking two ideas at the moment.
Catachan models with gas masks from the cadian command squad painted all muddy, or cadian models with some tunnel fanciness.

Either of those look kind of like what you want? Both look rather engineering-y to me.

Perhaps. Those do look nice. I'll need to think about it.

If they merely travel underground via drill machines, but don't actually spend much time scuttling around in tunnels on foot, then there's no obvious reason for them to be equipped differently from 'normal' troops who travel by Chimera or other above-ground vehicles. Although as Curnow says, if the drills don't have great air conditioning, then gas masks or breather masks of some kind would make sense.

But you could expand that theme, and say your troops are generally expert at fighting in holes, trenches, craters etc, in which case they'd all be equipped with entrenching spades, and similar equipment. Although that may be a bit close to DKoK for you...

thanks all. I think I will go with the catachan with gasmask idea, I might look into those maxmini parts.

That would be perfect for a 'tunnellers' themed army. Not a common helmet type though

I have a squad of those with more or less the exact same theme, a team of experts tunneling below the battlefield. Mainly consisting of engineers of Krieg. I'll assume you want to stick to Krieg as they apparently work solely with their own division.

Engineers have nicely detailed tunneler backpacks, and you can easily make a few headlights with some bits and green stuff. Also they have bent poses (old weared out men?) which suits walking in tunnels. Also one backpack has a roller with wire on it, which looks almost exactly like some demolition expert from the army.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.
