Here's some WIP pics of me re-vamping my old necromunda terrain with cork, plasticard and coffee stirrers!
Any thoughts/ suggestions are welcome It's all 'modular' like the original cardboard stuff btw

This looks great! Always enjoy seeing people refurbish their necromunda cardboard terrain. Look forward to the rest of it. It's impressive you are managing to keep it modular. Are you using black plasticard?

The rust effect is really good. What's your recipe?

Rust recipe:

Brown (army painter spray)
Orange stipple
Silver Drybrush

I managed to get a large piece of 1mm platicard from a local plastic company for next to nothing (they called it High impact polystyrene). It slots into the bulkheads perfectly.

Looks good. The bulkhead in the top photo looks a lot redder than the ones in the other photos, which is the more accurate colour?

And is the cork not a bit fragile? I like how it gives a cool texture, but I would be worried about breaking it

The top bulkhead was shot in daylight so I guess that one is more accurate
The cork I use is cut from sealed floor tiles so is pretty dense and rigid, plus I reinforce it with coffee stirrers if its a big piece.

More good stuff. have you got a board for these great peices yet? its impressive how well the coffee stirrers strengthen the cork!

Yeah I made a portable table out of an old pasting table (check my nec and terrain plogs) that I'll use

Looks good to me. For gameplay purposes I'd suggest making a bunch of walkways that can just be placed randomly to connect the various bits of scenery, and make sure to have some railings or walls or no-one will ever use them. I found that walkways with no railings were so dangerous that in the end I redid all of mine to have basically hard cover all the way along.

Yeah they're next on my 'to do' list after making/painting more gangers for the gangs (see necro plog).
Agree on the cover for walkways, no-one uses them otherwise!

Looks great, maybe a smidge more cover, barrels or the like, would work - cover going across the bridge like a barricade works too or you can get people camping at each end shooting along it. Good use of smeared on muck! I wish I'd used more muck on my terrain, especially after seeing Neil101's Ygg board.

Thinks you're right Bruticus, will add a little more.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Wonderful stuff here, can never have enough Necromunda blogson the go. I really like the cork / bitz barricades. The cork texture looks like rough concrete when painted up, brilliant

Wonderful stuff, Andy! Really beautiful tower, looks like it would be right at home in the underhive, or out in the ashwastes. Inspirational stuff all round actually - do you mind if I ask where you source that cork? Could use some myself

Hey andy! Hope you don't mind me asking, but what colour recipe do you use for the concrete on your cork? I'd live to get a similar colour

Would love to see how that tower's turned out too!

Adeptus Battle Grey base. Codex Grey overbrush, White (yes White!) drybrush, then Devlan Mud wash in old money. (havent learnt the new names yet!)

Saw your stuff on Yakromunda today as well. This is exactly what I want to do with my Necro terrain... after years of abuse the cardboard is starting to look awful. I need to get some plasticard and get cutting! Thanks for the inspiration.

Sorry, I think I wrote too much.
