Just a random space wolf I wired up for practice. He was meant for 3 color but the blue diode is too weak to produce violet. His plasmagun started as a stock plasmagun and was modified with copper wire, a diode, solder, and clear arcylic.

That is amazing, how do you put the wiring in such a small part of a small model???

Wow, I would love a tutorial on how you made such a thing.

WHOOAA, look at the pretty lights. Reminds me of a necron gauss flayer I saw that did the same thing, but with green of course.

magnet wire, the thinner the better. this is a low voltage project so you don't need heavily insulated wire. the leds generally work for at least 40 hours so far for that guy alone.

It is a space wolf that has been wired, modified, and converted to light up three different colors. Red, blue, or violet. Unfortunately the blue led is too weak to offset the red to achieve a visually noticable violet hue. The plasma coils are built out of a tiny chunk of a clear acrylic sheet. what kind of tutorial do people prefer? video or photo? as i can do either/or

It has an on/off switch so i can make it stay blue or red as well. I was hoping that violet would have represented a regular miss roll, but maybe the next one will. It is the sort of thing where once you have one model done, you want a necron army done the same way.

Photo or video tutorial? I could even take requests. I can make its power weapon light up, or its plasmagun.

I have a Necron (Over)lord on different subforum here that does that as well. That was the idea that inspired this space wolf.

I'd love to see all of that! I think a video would be preferable, though photos in addition to highlight close up work would be helpful too!

Would love to see the power weapon too

Did you whack in a resistor too to protect the LED?

Nope. Not that it can't be added to future projects, but I thought it would be more fun to know their limits in regards to hours of usage and use from a relatively constant power state. (Stack of 3v coin cell batteries, the ones that are about the size of a nickle). I don't think the battery supplies enough amperage to exceed the limits of the led though.

Aha, I see! Next up... LED in the base, and thread optic fibres through model to various light-up parts? Challenge!

I've been experimenting with that actually. I thought wyches might look neat with optical fibres for hair maybe a light up sword or something. They make pretty good eyes for psykers as well, but you need a drill smaller that matches your fibre width. Make sure you properly mount your fibres to your led as well.
