Wow, I'm surprised this hasn't gotten any comments yet! Because that is a really nice paint scheme! You're really good at razor-edge highlighting. How do you do it? Lemme guess, practice?

Loving it!

Looks awesome! I normally don't like edge highlights on black, but yours looks really good.

LOVE: The shading on the wings of the Angels symbol on the left (his left) shoulder. The shading on the toes of the boots. (Those ridged toes always make it look like they are wearing sandals for a moment until I realize that there would be way too many toes.) Especially love the lettering on the right (his right) shin. Super sharp.

Not crazy about the extreme highlighting, but take my opinion with the following grains of salt: I am in the extreme minority on that one, and I believe the bulk of hobbyists approve of the effect. Also, black is a hard color to shade, and extreme highlighting is almost required. Finally, while most attempts at extreme highlighting don't look right to me, yours does. I think it comes off with a very natural look when I view the pics.

The only thing I dislike is the knife. I think it looks overly large and out of place. But that might just be personal preference. Other than that, this is a phenomenal model.

Is this the standard that all your minis are painted to, or is this just a showpiece? If the latter, then kudos. If the former, then uber-kudos on your dynamite army!

Everything about this mini screams 2nd ed, I love it. From the basing to the knife on the leg to the flat-palm bolter grip, it's like you just pulled this out of 1997. Top notch says I.

Hey man,

Looks good, you work very cleanly thats always a good thing.
I think if you tone down the contrast on the highlights overal and then do them this "bright" in a few important places helps draw focus to the cool parts of a model, like the head.

Above all if you want to improve, spend some more time on your bases. They look really beginner, where the rest looks so much better.

Hope that helps!

The highlighting is brilliant. Controlled, appropriate colours and very clean and smooth.

It says to me that you're ready to move on up in terms of your painting. Start adding in some wet blending or two-brush blending, some glazes to change colour tones, and really work on the model to emphasise certain parts of it with lighting and shading.

Looking at this model, you definitely have to skill to pull of more impressive work than this, and this is already good work.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

I'm not sure if I'm responding to your comments in the correct way but thanks for all the comments they are all very appreciated . For the person who wanted to know what highlights I used I simply copied the legion of the damned masterclass in White Dwarf361 but it says for step one the armour was basecoated with a 1:1 mix of Regal Blue and Chaos Black. But I didn't basecoat the whole armour I just made a thicker highlight and did the next highlights smaller than that but I didn't do step 4 because on a test model it didn't look right.

The edge highlighting is really top notch. Although you could tone them down a bit. Still looks good though. A+

Fantastic metal DC with older components, only complaint I have is no older jump pack as well. Still, great work and excellent highlighting.

Hey, I'm not a big fan (if any at all) of so contrasted edge highlighting, but you did tremendous job here! Your edges are very clean and tidy. Big yes for this guy.

I love the paintjob on it; and also like the knife. I'm not as fond of the base but I think it might be an intentional retro throwback? In any case, really standout work.
