I just wanted to post some WIP shots of a Tau Hazard Suit I've been working on (Commander R'Alai). I've been trying my hand at some OSL with the energy effects, I am please with how it looks thus far. I've also got a Dragon Forge base, loving that as well.

Hope everyone enjoys:

Love the paint scherme and effects, look really good on that model. I really love the model, and I would pick one up myself, if he was an IC.

He is an IC in the Forgeworld books, Commander R'Alai, and he is bad-ass.

That is looking beautiful so far. Love the effect you have on the weapon and shield.

Thanks, Austin from B4H is wanting me to save up for an air brush so he can teach me how to do these effects faster, until then I have to stick to doing it by hand with a brush :(

Oh wow. Is there a tutorial out there for those effects? I really want to do those for my shield gens and railguns on hammerhead and broadsides

Well, it is essentially a few layers of dry brushing. It is much easier to do this with an air brush (I don't have one/suck with them atm). If there is enough desire expressed for a tutorial I could see about doing a video sometime.

Sadly he is not Ic, and with majority toughness 3 its a struggle to justify his points. Only way to buff his survivability is to attach a xv8 commander with shield drones to him. You still lose his t5 though.
The pdf for his experimental rules on the fw site has been superseded and he no longer has stalwart commander.

Loving the osl, might have to try that on mine.

He wasn't touched in their updates either but I'd assume he is considered a character, at least for challenges, though I am sure any reasonable play group would be accepting of counting him as an IC, he is afterall FW and isn't tournament legal as it is.

His official rules are in apoc v2 he is a character but not an independant one, and unlike shadowsun he doesnt become one upon the death of his drones.

That is what I was commenting on, nothing ForgeWorld if 'official' for tournament play, you have to have your opponent's consent to use the rules. I imagine if your opponent(s) are fine with you using him that they'd also be cool with him being an IC, seems a bit like an oversight on him imo.

The edgelining is a bit stark for my tastes (very clean, though - kudos on that), but the energy effects are impressive.

I felt the same honestly, I just didn't have the heart to re-do him from scratch :( In person the highlighting doesn't look bad though, the photos just amplify it. I am pleased with the acceptance of the lightning/energy, I've spent the better part of a year trying to get that stuff right =)

Alright, just an update, I have been loaned a camera to do some videos with, if anyone wants to see how I did this effect I need some suggestions for bits that would look cool with it on them so I can see if I have them
