Starting a new thread for this because of how Dakka's gallery works with auto sorting images. Old thread can be found HERE if you want to peruse the past works. Anyways...

Got fair of stuff done today. Started to add some Bane Thralls to Goreshade's base, but decided it was too crowded and I didn't like it. Those Bane Thrall shoulders are just too large, so I went ahead and moved Goreshade back to the center of a new base, and I'm pretty much going to call him done I think. He'll probably be my first Pledge for Play It Painted in February.

Repainted the arcs on my Bane Thralls. Did them up in the same colors as the silver parts of their armor. Hard to tell at this angle, but there's a silver highlight along the top of the rim that clearly viable from above. I figure I'll do up Unit Leaders, Officers and models with the Commander rule with golden arcs. I also added a coat of blue wash to their skirts to help deepen the folds without too heavily darkening the skirts. Meant to use purple wash, but oh well. Lastly on them I've got the first two of three elements of my planned basing scheme down on them. It's a glossy, dark brown/black silica sand, and a third to a half of my models with get those translucent green resin crystals. I love these crystals. The ones on the Thralls here are some of the smallest in the bunch, because their skirts do not leave hardly any room for basing. The last element will be some small patches of brown/dead grass, but I've not quite found exactly what I'm looking for in that just yet.

Lastly I'm finally getting started on this little project I've been wanting to do. That pink stuff is air dry clay. It's being used as filler to take up space and will have details sculpted on with the usual sculpting putty latter, though it take several days to really set up so I probably won't work on them till next weekend. You totally win an internet cookie if you can tell me what they're supposed to be.

Another night of progress on painting the Bane Knights. Got the silver of the armor done and then the first of the two coats of sepia wash down. I think I'll skip board game night tonight and then actually work on painting at home. See if I can get these guys and The Sauce all finished up before Warmachine night at the FLGS on Wednesday so I can get some last minute Reports From The Front photos taken and end up with a pretty good score for the first month's Play It Painted.

And here's my last minute pledge for January's Play It Painted. Should have him done tonight, but will at least have him done by Thursday.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge, but is this Warmachine? Either way, those Bane Thralls are swicked!

Is indeed Warmachine, my Cryx faction, but with a heavy injection of Necron influence.

My Pledges for January's Play It Painted all finished up. February's Play It Painted will mostly see more of the same, with me maxing out the two units of Banes here and then adding the UA to the Bane Thralls. Do want to get Goreshade painted up first though and hopefully before a tournament next weekend.

Ah, it's good to see these guys again.

What's the small model in that last photo?

All good vampires need their hot half dressed vampress minion and that's Goreshade's. She lowers the strength and defense of nearby living troops and if Goreshade dies I can have her die instead.

::Looks at calander::

Last day of the month?! Well poopy! I should probably get these pictures put up finally since they're due in today.

Got Goreshade and his hussy all done up as well as the four Bane Knights to bring me to a full ten man unit of them. Clearly I've relapsed into my laziness as I've not gotten anything else built this month much less painted. Got some pictures of the stuff I've done from a tournament earlier this month though. Went 3-1 to nab fourth place overall, took a bonus prize in the last round by being the first person to Score on a particular flag that round, and my Bane Knights took best painted unit.

Quick shot of the of the clawed tentacles that will get put on to make this thing a true octopus. Needs a bit more undercarriage work before I glue those in those.

Also would like an opinion on which of these two heads you prefer. I know my Deathjack will get one of the larger style ones later on like the first two pictures, and my Slayer/Spyder Jacks will get the smaller style heads. And a reminder that these are thumbnails you can click on to get a Much larger version of the picture to better see the heads.

Here's a look at the back of it where I've slapped a Canoptek Wraith carapace onto it. ( The Canoptek Wraith kit is what those tentacles are from by the way, they're wraith tails. At $46 for a box of three though they're not cheap. Woooo employee discount!! ) Needs some more work to flush it up to The Kraken's back and fill in those holes where the vents attach, but I'd missed getting my favorite sculpting tool into the toolbox before I went to work. The two pairs of holes on the outsides will still get chimney vents. Also working up a gun mount to put the Death Ray on. Mmmmm... Death Ray...

As an aside, I don't picture this thing walking on those tentacles. I more picture it hovering above the ground with the tentacles hanging down below it. Two of them just happen to be touching the ground at the moment acting as a flight stand.

Pretty much functionally done at this point. Just need to gap fill a few spots yet, namely where the wraith carapace connects to The Kraken's back to make it flush, as well as around where the Death Ray and metal tentacles connect. Also will get four of the little chimneys still, and I need to think of something to do with the narrow end of the wraith carapace. Maaaaaaaybe get it painted by this weekend for a tournament.

That is freaking awesome, Aduro! The only thing that sticks out to me a little bit is how far the gun protrudes out. But man, this is soooooooo much better than the stock model.... fantastic work

It is a Cryx Kraken, or in my case, a NeCryx Canoptek Kraken. Here's a shot of what the stock model looks like, with a handy size comparison. (that base is 5" across)

I belive Necrons really recive much less attention in terms of conversion work from Dakka community than they deserve and it's nice to see such a fine take on this.
Keep it up mate! I'll be waiting for more.
