Sooo after a year or two of thinking about moving on from Warhams, I decided to take that step. The wife and I jumped into Malifaux and we frigging love it. Great game system, cheap, and the minis are awesome. So I figured Id start a blog to focus on my crew and whatever the wife paints as well. Ill start off with the model that made me pick my crew.
Baby Kade.
I have the idea that it would be cool to paint them in black and white, like an old movie, and then have the bases and certain things on the models be colored. Showing that they are not real, and more like nightmares. So Kades skin tone is more grey then I wanted originally, but I actually really like how he turned out, and so Ill keep with that look for the rest of the crew. Enjoy, and C&C as always. (side note, my usual camera poohed on me. So Im using a backup, that is a REAL finicky camera so sorry if some of the images are a tad blurry)

I don't know why but i really like that model for some reason.
Now what to say about it?
The Paintjob is excellent all round. The babies skin tone, while not as movieish as you would have liked, looks really good. I love the bloody arm, i think thats really well done. The creepy glowing eyes add a whole other "creep" layer to an already creepy model. (Baby with a knife dragging a bear around? Creeptastic.)
Two questions.
- Did you makes the bears stuffing yourself? Because i think its a great touch that really adds to the model.
- Have you painted this using only washes?

Firstly, a thankya!
Answers.
1. Yup, its just a cotton swab ripped off, and super glued in place. Then I pulled cotton off until it looked good.
2. Nope, its thinned paint, but no washes.

Well I played my first full game today against my wife and her Colette crew. It was an awesome match up. I ended up killing everyone in her crew minus Colette, but stil STILL won by 1VP on the last turn. Great fun.
Speaking of Malifaux, I thinking of putting paint to brush tomorrow on Candy. Although, that might change into Pandora once I get to it. Im glad I painted Kade first, because he seems to be an MVP so far, now that hes got some paint on him. In this game, he wounded a perfomer, killed off another Performer, and took 2 destroy evidence tokens by the end of it. What a little brute. Though I cant wait till we start playing bigger games and I can bring my Teddy. Because I like to link Sorrows to Baby Kade, and rush them towards the enemy so I can use them along with Pandora to cause some serious damage through WP duels. Then I can just swap Kade out with a Teddy and let the big guy loose on some already hurt crew.
Anywho, thats where Im at currently ladies and germs

The wife wanted me to make the bases for her Colette crew today. She wants it to look like they are all on stage performing. So wood flooring, done similar to how I made the brick road look on my crew. I think itll look good enough once she paints them. Best of all, one of her doves, we call the boring dove, she wondered if I could do something special to spruce it up. Silly woman. Of course I CAN!! So in staying in the theme of what she wanted, I thought if I could build a stage lamp, that would be the tits. So a little scrounging later, I came up with a pretty neat looking stage lamp, with the Dove perched on top. I must say, I think it looks the gak.
Anywho, update for now. Ill put paint to some more Neverborn tomorrow I think.

The ted is excellent, ingenious idea with the cooton wool for stuffing. Also really like your style on the piece - suitably creepy and the muted tones bring to mind the style of films such as 300 and Sin City.
I'll admit that I know next to nothing on Malifaux, so will be watching this with interest...

Ahh well many thanks Ruglud! You should check out Malifaux as soon as you get the chance. Its a great game and loads of fun. Funny you mention Sin City, because I was inspired by that look. Greys/blacks/whites and splashes of red. Yet instead of 1 color, I just chose something to be colored

Not a huge update here, but a couple pictures to share. 1 of my crew so far, and 1 of the wifes crew minus 2 mechanical doves. Shes painting everything herself and I have to say, for being a total newb to painting, they are looking pretty good. And Im still kicking it around with finishing Pandoras face. I want the glow, so Im thinking Ill work on that a bit more to try and make her NOT look like a super villain, and I stil have some "grass" to add to the base. Anwyho, these were taken during a match we had
Colettes crew
Pandoras crew
