'Ello.

I know scratchbuilding a kannon is usually the easiest thing to do, but im at a stump here.
Below is what i got so far, it looks done/ready to be painted (except i need to cut off the excess green stuff sticking out of the scope still) but it feels like i am missing something. Like a control box or something next to the back of the barrel (i used a Tankbusta bomb since its the perfect size and kinda looks like a cover anyway).
EDIT: Greenstuff on the tiny tube, not on the big one. Thats actually a lens and is smoothed out/bulged ever so slightly.

Any ideas?

Bingo! Metal shield thats what i was missing. Thanks!

Rivets i also knew about but i lack anything to make them atm, tryin to find something that isnt a toothpick thats the right thickness/not hollow (toothpicks dont like being cut after all)

For rivets. Roll a greenstuff rod and let it cure. (Just roll GS between two flat surfaces) Then cut it into small slices.

With the suggested shield it will improve. But i don't know if the barrel might be a little to short ...

You could also add some sort of ammobox next to the kannon with a typical orky payload of everything they could get their hands on. Grenades, artillery shells, spoons and forks and the odd space marine helmet.
And you could add a grot on top of the barrel, maybe even looking into it.

rivets for orks is a free for all... you can do square rivets or round or even hex shaped ones... my friend shasozlenabi makes round rivets out of PVA drops... takes some time to get used to...but is as cheap as it gets... and it is as quick as any other methode...

That's pretty sweet, needs rivets though. A blast shield would be cool, but who cares about them gretchin gits anyway?

I actually like grots though.

Well bases arent required but im basing them anyway when im done because i like building bases (and it adds to structure integrity anyway).

I tried to model the gun after the Kannon gun from BW kits - its fairly close, including length, im not sure what the Big Gunz kannon is suppose to look like as noone ever uses the normal model lol. Zzap guns would have wires and some sort of battery-cell like thing.

I like the ammobox idea i could put that in that space opposite of the lookin part of that eyeglass (it feels like wasted space to me, was the main thing i was askin for help with).

Of course greenstuff for rivets DERP tyty i'll roll one out right now!

Trying to refrain from using models for modeling purposes unless its a bigger unit like Deffdredds or Battlewagons or FW stuff, those things add a price to the model quick. Yea, its grots, ~17bucks for 10 + runtherder, but it still adds up lol (i think i'd have to greenstuff them new arms though or they'd look weird)

Also i built a shield, i started working on 2 more since i initially thought i just needed something for rivets to finish this one - now i need the ammo box
EDIT: Also took off that hanging piece in the original picture. It blocked any form of shield i could think of, and i ended up needing it on the other two for the support brace (the other two gunz lack that extra bit on that half of the trukk's armor plating so the length was off between them, causing it to not sit right/not even angle in the air lol)
I need to get my hands on some real plasticard too. All i can find is this paper-thin stuff that i have to double-up to use because its too thin lol

Aye they look good ..with a base and the look of these they could be used as either zzap or Kannon ..( I base mine with a single crewman on them as well as a limber and some ammo crates 60mm base) ...I have a second crewman that can be set on the base as well on his own 25mm base ..and extras and ammo runts I stick off to the side on their own bases so that each model can be removed as needed ..

Yep just need rivits now looks great

For rivets, you could just use spears from warhammer fantasy or the like and cut them up. Gives a bit of consistency to size and is easy.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined
