Hey guys wanted to share what I completed tonight. It's my first one finished I have two more to go! I've always loved the idea of mortars and frankly they are one if the units that made me want to start an IG army but I never got around to making them after learning they were hardly a good competitive choice. But recently I decided I try to take them in my lists because I think they can be effective against certain armies and because they are a sharp looking model.

Anyway hope you like!

Darn, too bad that they are not competitive. But the model looks great.

Nice job.

Not competitive? Yeah, its a damn shame you can tuck your T3 5+ Guardsmen into a building, jungle or other applicable cover and still shoot Barrage weapons at the enemy from out of sight....that's the worst...

So they aren't S10 AP1, that doesn't meant they aren't useful. Especially when utilizing your Orders system creatively. Look, I'm certainly not suggesting raining Mortar shells down on Paladins or whatever is going to be game winning, but they can drop some hurt on large squads with low leadership, which there are an abundence.

Anyways, my take. Play for fun, play what's fun.

Mortars are pretty decent and a very characterful weapon unique to IG, nice to see people taking them even if they don't make the cut in a lot of netlisting.

As to the mini, I like it. The dirtied armour looks good. Only complaint would be that the base is very plain and sparse.

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.

Thanks for the feed back guys! I really appreciate it, regarding the base I kind of agree I just couldn't think of what I wanted to add and I really didn't want it to be cluttered!

As far as in game play, alot of people hate on the because on paper they look rather weak, but like previously said, hiding them behind a building and just shelling large minds or camping objectives holders is rather effective. The other game I played against tyranids and last turn cause a unit of termagaunts our of synopse range to flee due to mortar wounds and thus win the game.
