Not sure if i'm happy with how it looks, I didn't want it to be too colourful as i wanted it to look like an animal that lives in cold frozen wastelands, so lots of white... not sure now if it looks too plain tho.
I went for tiger stripes so it looks like a white Siberian Tiger crossed with a white dragon and a big scary raven type bird.
Please excuse dodgey white balance I can't remember how to white balance my camera lol. (probably makes it a bit hard to tell how white it is, to clear that up it's pretty damn white lol)

I can see what you mean about it looking plain, maybe if you painted the more 'reptilian' bits (e.g. the middle head and tail) a different colour to make them stand out? Also maybe slightly changing the colour of the wing membranes (a wash would probably do it) would help add a bit more detail.

Agreed, it is a great paint job but it needs a focal point or something to make it pop. Maybe start with just making the eyes a little more vivid? See how that looks, before going for large scale changes. Also; I'd make the bone/claws more distinct from the rest of the Chimera.

Good shout, what do you think about going much darker on the bones and claws? an almost black? I'm hesitant to add too much colour unless i absolutely have to.

What you've done is good, but it is a bit bland. I'd paint claws, hooks and teeth a color to either look like bone, or black, something other than the same as the flesh.
One technique used for stones on bases is to paint on various colors of washes, then drybrush over them. This leaves a little of the washes showing through to give good color variations, but still looks even and blended with the main color. May work here too, I would just put the washes on in large patches that overlap in some areas. Also, maybe make the ribbing of the wings different.
Adding color over this will make it pop, and not just look like a fleshy mass.

cool, may try that. Automatically Appended Next Post: I think more purple wash in little areas like I've done with the tail head.

You could also have the colors and patterns from the head go farther back and sort of blend and fade out on the shoulders, it would help tie the main body to the heads and eliminate any hard separation.

I think with the bones/claws go for a very dark brown, not quite black, highlighted with a lighter brown and a gloss finish.

To be honest, it is plain, but i like it.
Simple schemes look great on large models as its easy to go overboard and crows them with a multitude of colours.
If you want to make it a little less plain, do what i do and pick out key points.
Make the eyes nice and bright so they stand out.
Simple and easy, paint them white and wash with green 2-3 times, gives them a nice glow and they stand out.
Also, tongue and claws/teeth are other focus points that will make it stand out more, something like a deep-blood red on the claws and a purple on the tongue really will pick out key points.

Great looking model, the white looks great, But my only critique is why the brown tones? In your post you stated you wanted to have the chimera look as if it lived in frozen wastelands. Some blue and purple washes would help achieve this effect as well as cooling down the model, as it looks really warm (with the brown wash and base). Its a great looking model, but it doesn't scream frozen wasteland beast quite yet! Cheers!

When it's not really snowy, arctic wolves get incredibly dirty.
If Google Images is anything to believe, polar bears always look freshly laundered.
Some weathering around the paws could go a long way.

I think the basing will put it in an arctic/snowy place more than the shading.
Besides, this monster isn't from earth. Snow doesn't have to be cool tones and white really, and it doesn't have to go by the rules of earth arctic wolves or polar bears. Though, that would help I suppose. At any rate, I didn't think of any particular climate when I looked at the pictures, so I don't think it would look out of place in one terrain type or another. The base will describe where it's from.

I would recommend maybe making the stripes a bit more defined, as I think just adding that little bit of sharpness will make the model really pop. I love what you've done here, and I really appreciate your use of washes to get the perfect tone.

While I can accept the likely position of the multilaser, I'm still confused about where you think your guardsmen are going to embark.

I LOL'd, for real
I too thought this was an IG transport, and found a three headed beast instead of a tracked beast. Oh well. It is a cool model though, I like it a lot!
