OK, I just had the wildest Idea in my head and I think I could pull it off!

Basically I am starting a C:SM army and instead of sticking to one chapter - I want to make each squad from a different chapter and each character aswell unless they are the named ones of course. There are over a 1000 chapters and I could choose anything

For example:

one tactical squad: imperial fists

one assault squad: doom eagles

one bike squad: ravenwing etc

there will be a few repeats mainly because of ultramarine characters etc and fluff wise - blood angel

They will all follow the C:SM rules and it will be easy to distinguish between the different units

What do you guys think?

Would it work - would you play against it.

This would be a very neat army, but you may have to rethink it. Blood Angels are a different army, along with the Ravenwing , but most other chapters mentioned are alright.

Though, as I said earlier, this army would be neat to play against. I think if you give some equally neat background to these guys, it would be a force to be reckonned with.

Yes thats what I thought but I can just say to my opponent that they all are playing under the C:SM Rules and i reckon most of them wont disagree unless they were ultra-die hard neo nazi smurf players or somethng

A Space Marine Joint Task Force? Sounds cool.

I had toyed with something similar to this, and I think it would be a lot of fun to represent several different chapters in a single army.

Some of my ideas(you're welcome to use them):

-Use Kor'Sarro Khan from the white scars for your bikes.
-Stick Captain Lysander with a squad of termies
-PIck up the "Deathwatch Conversion Kit" and make them your sternguard. For this paint one of the shoulder pads from all the Chapters that are being represented.

Basically, create a unit based off of a Unique Character, paint them appropriately. Ditch the UC for regular games, then attach them for Apoc. Would be really cool to see on the table, and I wish you the best of luck. Most importantly, have fun.

This is similar to an idea I want for my DIY chapter. I agree with the earlier posts that mainly using C:SM is the best, and you could have each tactical, devastator, and assault squads from a different chapter. I suggest throwing a Crimson Fist devastator squad in there, if you are including the Imperial Fist, they are natural allies of course.
Also don't forget allies, so you can decide what other chapters you want to paint and use in games. If you want to be fluffy, see what chapters prefer to work alone, if that is important to you. Otherwise can't wait to see what the final product will look like. Good luck.

You may also want to think about the Ultramarines Honour Company. A company of marines that rotates the squads and officers from Ultramarines and their successors.

Im thinking of doing something like this with my current army

Im building up some 3rd company Ultramarines as the mainstay of the army.

But i picked up the tac squad and librarian from the Dark angels starter box.
So instead of just painting them blue and having the wrong emblems, or trying to shave off the da icons,
im planning on painting up a green rhino and playing them as a normal C:SM tac squad, just of dark angels that are operating with the
ultramarines force.

I also have some deathwatch members that I am going to sprinkle into squads, first up was a white consuls heavy bolter marine.
These guys are going to join some squads as special weapons operators, who are there to give the ultramarines special advice and training.

Im also tempted to go to the raven guard when I want to add some assault squads. I really dig the idea of different chapters working together and
lending their strenghts to an army

This is exactly what I'm doing with my Orks!

I would love to see an army like that on the field. I am doing the same thing with my Chaos army mainly because I get bored of painting the same thing over and over again.

Alright guys, finally got somewhere!

I decided to go to build some vanguard veterans first since I so desperately wanted to use a sanguinary guard boxset. Now the question is should I paint the vanguard vets as blood angels themselves or as successors.
If successors i am think of one of these guys:
Angels sanguine, Flesh Tearers or Blood Drinkers. Tell me what you guys think I should do.
I think I should probably make it a successor since i would rather instead use the actual ba model as the apothecary in the command squad.

This is my idea have the first founding chapters as the HQs and the command squad and have the successors for all the other things. So for example the command squad will have one of each of the founding armies represented. However in some places I will have to make exceptions such as ravenwing for a bike squad - it has to be done!

Also, my sarg in the squad has a storm shield - however, I don't own any so I decided to make my own!
What do you guys think - ignore the glue it will be fixed soon.
