Subject: Reecius' Tyranids vs Jy2's Daemons 1750pts Video
My old friend and rival, Jy2 comes by the shop to pick up a painting commission and to get a game! I have not played since Adepticon when we filmed this game, and you can tell I am a bit rusty, but it is a great game all the same. Tyranids vs. Daemons 1750pts, BAO format.

That had been my plan all along after I failed to kill your Warlord with the shooting of my entire army. My rants about killing Swarmy was just a smokescreen for what I truly had to do.
Great game Reece, especially considering how out of practice you were.

Reecius,
do you think Swarmy is need over a flyrant? He has a huge bullseye and a quite short threat range, he is however a force multiplyer
don't you miss the second tervigon to get more troops in when needed?
how are the hormagaunts performing always have the idea they are a bit overcosted?

Hey Valek, I would take Swarmy over the courant if I could only take one. He adds so much by just being there. I'm actually considering dropping the flyrant and adding an armored shell dakka tyrant.
Swarmy is the king of combat, with iron arm he wrecks anything. The flyrant is there just to kill flyers.
I have gradually worked my way down to 1 Tervie. I find that is all I need. I've never run out of scoring options so far, and I prefer more offense.
Hormagants have done well for me. With poison they can kill most units and I give them furious charge the tie. They assault with Swarmy. Only downside so far is smart opponents kill them fast as they know they're very deadly in combat.
Last question here, the Gargoyles in a unit of 30 would they not be better of in two units of 15 just to migitate them being shot up to badly?

There are pluses and minuses to both configurations. However, the pluses far outweighs the minuses. What is the advantage of staying together? Simple, it's for the buffs. Invisibility, Endurance, Objuration Mechanicum (I that that's what it was), Prefered Enemy from the Swarmlord....a 30-man unit with all of those buffs is much more deadly and resilient than a unit of 15. Without the psychic buffs, I'd run them 2x15. But when you factor in all those psychic buffs, keeping them together is exponentially better.

It's also easier to keep in synapse range if you need to chain them out.
Awesome Batrep guys! always enjoy watching you guys play.
@Reecius Please don't tip your table with your gargoyles on them again. I almost broke my monitor trying to reach for models I thought were falling off the table. That's what I get for watching Batrep videos in full-screen LOL
BTW awesomely painted models as well for the both of you guys. Sadly I look at my IG army arranged in front of me and see just how poorly they compare.
I play games for the thrill that it gives me to crush my enemies after executing a faultless plan that required skill, cunning, and strategic brilliance to accomplish, as well as the drive to learn from my mistakes and better improve my skills as a commander of men when I fail my mission.
This, is why I play Imperial Guard.

Love the paint jobs, I think this is the first time I've seen fully painted new daemons fielded. Really liked how close it stayed, though I kept thinking the nids would just brutalize the daemons any given turn.
I really love the gargoyle models and paintjobs. I keep trying to convince my friend to field them, but he doesn't think they're worth it. Probably to the better for me.

Yeah, Jim said it. You get more bang for your buck on the buffs when you only have one unit. Plus, it is one less KP. Also as Red Corsair said, synapse gets easier.
I typically buff them with Telekine Dome and give them Preferred Enemy from Swarmy and they are pretty dang nasty.
@Cyrus
Haha, yeah, they are magnetized! Table War cases are great for that. Glad you like the reps!
@Tanuvein
Glad you liked it! Yeah, it was closer than I thought it would be, Jim was in good form and I was rusty. I dang near won it there! But it was a super fun game.
Gargoyles are quite simply one of the best units in the book, no question. I keep thinking about fielding another 30, they are that good.
