So this is my foam board table I have been making for the past few weeks. It is six 2ft by 2ft sections. All sections are reversible with flat surface. The "gorge" has several ramps of different sizes. Eventually it will be an Icey board for space wolves so jumping into the gorge will be dangerous. Also I plan to make "the fang" as a section/display board. This will be a running forum of my triumphs and failures of making this board.

That is awesome, trench style combat! Will be keeping an eye on this forum.

what they all said! trench combat would be sick! LOS problems combined with minimal escape routes could really create some interesting plays

Could perhaps add some sort of central tower/structure in future, with the aim of creating a highly valuable control point with a line of sight down into almost all points of the trench.

OOOOOOOO! just noticed. If you kept the width of the trneches the exact same at all the foam edges, you could keep each segment removable and then they would all be interchangable. Allowing you to re-arrage the arrangement of trench directions. Or swap them out with other parts. That would be sick! you'd have a board that could be changing each game

What are your plans? Was this already in mind? As the foam looks that way

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

Thanks everyone for such positive feedback.

@Solar Shock- My plans are to make an ice planet/ Fenris(space wolves) table complete with mountain ranges, frozen over river(built into board), and different sized accesses to the river. All the river connecting points are 6 inches wide in the middle even though size of the river changes, so yes they are all interchangeable.

Demonator!!
Looking good so far!!
Do you own a Sanding Block?
It will be really useful when you go to smooth your edges of the board where they butt up against each other.
And also...try not to build up your crevasse with too much material..warpage could occur.
Ill be keeping an eye on this one!!

When I have more time/room I plan to do something very similar to this. Making a table that will hold the 2x2s comfortable and making several sets. Give me a game board that's easy to store and assemble based on the game I'm going to play.

So I started build my version of the entrance to "the fang" today. I would like everyone's option please. If you look to the left you will see a pedestal built into the mountain. I was going to put a landing pad there but would a commas station be more appropriate?

@masterdoobie- if they have them in Australia their official name is extruded polystyrene.

@farseererandyman: I commenced sanding today and am using lightweight spackle to fill some gaps.

@tilarium: storage is my number one reason for building this board. Number two reason is versatility.

It looks good for a basic build up, but can you fit a model behind those walls?
