"I had that tank all lined up for a kill shot, what do you mean we are assaulting? <sigh> OK... Bolt pistol out, For the Emperor!"
agreed. He Looks like he belongs in a tactical squad.
Little known fact: Dev squad troops don't actually have legs, they use that space in their power armor to store more ammo. The real purpose of the bolter marines in dev squads is to pick up the heavy weapon troopers and place them into firing positions when nobody is looking.
Now you say it does look a bit more tac squad! Grrr, oh well I was aiming for 4 different poses, these 2 and the other 2 in a more traditional pose, although one aiming up as if going for a flyer.
To make the ML in the first one was fairly simple. I took the ML in the Dev box (easier than the tac one) and trimed away the hand and forearm, replacing them with a bolt gun pistol grip.
I then used the axe arm from the assault box, trimmed the axe away at both ends then drilled a hole through the hand.
I hem carefully trimmed away parts of the handle on he ML until I could get it into the hole of the hand.
I like them both. very nice ideas. I do agree that the first guy seems to fit better with a tac squad, but perhaps he's just preparing for an assault :p the poses make them stand out from everyone else's ML marines, which is great

Dev marines fight just as well in CC as tactical ones. Sometimes you just need to get stuck into a good scrap. Of course, I've modeled chain bayonets onto heavy bolters, so might be a little biased. Also good for BAdevs. Back in the day, they'd try to sneak into assaults when you weren't looking...

I think they both look great. The first guy might look better in a whole squad of moving dudes, but I don't think it's such a big deal that you need to start over or anything. The second one's a great simple conversion. It makes a serious impression on me when there's an army where models have small changes from their stock poses.

I feel the first is very intense and energetic, as though he is right in the middle of combat.
The second is more passive but still very alert. Almost as though he's spotted a target in the distance and is preparing to fire.
Posing is something I need to work on with my models and seeing some great examples like these helps me figure out what I should be aiming for
I like the pose of the second but the hand holding the missile seems pointless as the backpack has a servo arm for loading the missiles. Maybe you could paint it brown and say it's a chocolate fish.
Thanks for the comments, I've a couple more to do when the MLs turn up so will end up with 5 (one is for s tac squad). I'll post the whole squad when they're done.
Hey, few bits turned up today so managed to get another done, just one more ML to turn up thats going in the traditional pose and then I'll decide my 4.
I like the pointing hand as a match for the carrying ML arm you did. It fits in a dev squad a lot better the the bolt pistol. I can picture him saying "Next volley into that tank over there" or "We've killed everything we can see here, let's move over to that hill to scan for new targets"
If I didn't already have more MLs then I needed, I'd be stealing your ideas.
these are great. very dynamic. one criticism: the off-shoulder missile launchers should be the other way around. if tey had just slung them off their shoulders, the muzzle would be facing behind them.

just a thought.
I'm not quite following this... there's a carry handle on the top and a pistol grip on the bottom. what am I missing?

At first I didn't understand either but if you mime the motion of how they hold the MLs and lift it off your shoulder to your side. you'll notice that during this motion you actually turn the launcher around to be facing in the other direction.
Honestly I don't see it as a huge issue but if you're aiming for genuine dynamics it would probably make sense to reverse the ML
