Hi All!

I figured with the release of the new Lizardmen Codex and my own inability too actually complete the armies i start, that i should finally bite the bullet and create a blog so i have the motivation too actually complete an army!
So in saying that, I hope (fingers crossed) that ill actually be more motivated too paint these little models we all love. I will be trying too update this as often as possible, as whenever i get the urge too start a new army it hits pretty hard
and im hoping that by updating this constantly it'll actually last a lot longer!

First up, after rummaging through my cupboards i came across the old battalion box that i bought years ago and got as far as primed, now as far as that goes after sitting in the cupboard for a good 5 years the models were a little worse for wear;
You'll notice the assortment of rainbow colors thrown through the primed models, apparently sometime in the recent past i decided id let my nieces/nephews paint some...not such a good idea in retrospect



but after some cleaning and gluing i managed too get a few models ready too be painted.

Small update (wasn't exactly the tomorrow i was hoping for! )

Went out and bought myself a Mage Priest!

he's still got a little bit of work too do, but will be done by tomorrow!

Also finally decided on a scheme for the bulk of the force, didn't like the yellow version of the Saurus i painted up so went a little darker!


At the moment the bases are placeholders until my shipment of Temple Ruin bases from Dragonforge comes and then they will be properly be prepared too defend the kingdom of the old ones!

Just a quick update, Mage priest completed and crossed off the list!






Not 100% happy with the skin tone on the priest, seems....flat.

The purple wash is actually really good - I think a layer of that over the purple skin would really give you some definition.

But good stuff so far - are you going on a yellow - red - purple spectrum scheme to denote higher ranks/more important creatures?

Hey Silver, yeah i was a bit dubious using a wash for the purple as ive had some bad experiences with them on lighter skin tones. but will see how it goes

Yeah the plan for the scheme was for the skinks too be yellow showing shorter life spans and the saurus/scar vets/old bloods too be more progressively into orange -> crimson.
I have no idea how the purple ties in i just needed something besides a warmer hue, but i like your idea of it being for a more important creature. Might have too use that lol.

Just a little update, gone through and added a layer of washes and highlights too the slann's skin, think it makes it look a bit more complete now.

I love purples and a bloated magical purple toad is no exception! The skink looks mighty good too, the yellow is contrasting with the purple but in a fantastic way.

The only thing I don't like is how bare the base is: That Slann is gonna attract a lot of attention, being an important unit and all, so he could use a cool looking jungle like base to spice it up!

He's a big boss, after all

But I would agree with TheDraconicLord - his base is a bit plain.

Yeah ATM his base is just a place holder the ones that they will be using are these:

But atm there is a backlog of orders being done so the wait time is a little longer than usual. Once i get those i can get them onto some appropriate bases and really make them stand out!

Not related too my little lizards seeing as im still waiting on a order from GW, i thought id upload some other works ive been doing too pass the time;




Ive reaaaallllly wanted too do a Pre/During heresy version of the Word Bearers ever since reading The First Heretic, and the dude above is my thoughts on a scheme for the Vaunted Gal Vorbak (sans Black helms)

Gotta say it was fun painting all that skin, different from my usual foray into fantasy and was nice too test out a few ideas

Really love the look of the old school Wraiths, the new flavour just doesnt do it for me. And its been a chore getting the OOP ones for non ridiculous prices off eBay!

Oohh, I'm happy you are going to give him a more unique base. The Slaan deserves it

I like that pre-heresy word bearer, the yellow detail on his helm adds a lot to the overall look but I don't think he would look as good with the black helm.

Finally: Really?! I love the new Wraiths! My robot cockroaches look so deadly and so insect-like, I like them a lot more than the old model. But to each his own

Yeah i think it may be that i spent so long playing previous edition that i really cant wrap my head around them looking so different lol, contemplating using the new kit with some older pieces and seeing if i can make some more dynamic looking poses too.

Another update, not exactly the lizards i was hoping for, but have been having problems with GW and the postal system the last few weeks so i decided it was time too paint some of the Necrons Ive had primed for the last few months!

First up, Night Scythe!






I'm not really sold on how Ive done the weathering, after finishing up the dirt/rust on the top it looks out of place, thinking ill have too tone it down on the next one.

First of my Immortals!




Definitely need too invest in a proper set up, dark photos hurt everyone!
Ive got some battlefield bases that im building now so i should have them based properly within the next few days

I like dirty Necrons (oh-er!) - I think the patches on the flier are a little too regular - there is too much of a consistent silver edge around each panel and I think you need to blur them together more and give a much more irregular pattern of wear.

Yeah that's what i was thinking, it seems like its intentional, which with wear and tear its obviously not lol. Ive gone and re-done them and ill post up some photos tomorrow

I did say that was all for today, but after looking through some of the other wonderful Plogs on here i had the urge too paint again!

so far im liking how its flowed into the recesses, just need too add some more depth and then do the flat panels.

I like your choice of color scheme on these, Personally I always do Necrons in dark and light metals, I think it suits them better.
Plus I quite like the weathering on the Night Scythe,

Thanks Hk1x1! Ive always preferred the darker style necrons as well, something doesn't sit right with me when they're painted with anything but metals but that could just be the bias from the previous edition

Another update, this time with actual lizardmen!

After waiting 2 weeks for a box of saurus too arrive they finally appeared!



Just a few WIP shots of the current progress, hoping too have them completed by mid week (work allowing)

Little bit more progress on a couple of other models Ive been doing in the meantime,
Cryptek is almost finished just needs some touch ups here and there and should be done!


And i finally got around too painting the base that comes with the Skink priest. Didn't like how they modeled skulls into it, doesn't seem very lizardmen.


Decided im gonna go with a more paler stone for the temple bases and throw some water effects in with a bit of sepia for that dirty water effect.

Hi All!

Just another quick update, progress on the saurus is coming along nicely, should have some pics up and coming for them in the next few days, but i thought id leave this here as a sneak peak of my next unit!

OOP lizardmen!

found them on Ebay for dirt cheap and had too pick them up. All in all i got 29 skinks and 4 saurus for the low low price of 16$ AU!

Alrighty! time for another update!

Finally got the first 16 saurus finished, and god am i glad that i only have another 24 too go...
I do like how the orange turned out, although in the photos it really does seemed too have been washed out, they look more like my original saurus scheme rather than whats showing.

These photos definitely show the colors better but it still a little washed out will have too figure out a better way too take the final photos so the color shows a bit more clearly.

my bases finally came!

I was dubious about buying a whole large batch at once in case the casts weren't up too scratch but i can say im definitely regretting not buying them all now!
The bases are absolutely perfect no flaws or holes and minimal cleaning required. Will definitely be buying a large batch of them when the manufacturer comes back from holidays!

Should have the bases painted and the models re-based over the next few days so until then!

It does look a little flat - I think like the priest, a few personal/unit warpaints might be cool - as would the odd scale in a slightly different colour. I don't know about the design of the model, but would painting the chest and stomach a lighter shade (perhaps a dusky yellow?) be easy? I think that would give the model as a whole a little more definition.

I can definitely see where you're coming from with the flatness, too much orange and the purple isn't enough of a contrast too break it up. I'm hesitant too paint the underbellies in a lighter shade, however i may just have too throw some warpaint on them.

How about this?





Not as elaborate as the skink priest, but should be good for unit markings?

That is awesome - really breaks it up and gives it a lot more visual interest. I might add a contrasting colour on the shield between the purple and blue as the colour you have used at the moment is too similar - I might try a bright yellow to give a very strong contrast between both colours and the colour of the scales as well.

Little update for tonight, haven't been able too get much done lately with work and horrid pain from a tooth removal (damn dentists!)


Went with a pale sandstone base, and after toying with the idea of having vines everywhere, i opted too go down a more simpler route and just used aged leaves too add a little something "extra"
