Looks pretty good, particularly for a first attempt. Maybe hit it with a matt wash to make it less shiny, but other than that, it's solid.

Looks alot like my first hawk lord i painted i like it for a first attempt, if you are happy with it, that's what matters. What size dry brush are you using? i recently just started using a vehicle/terrain large drybrush, which at first i thought was abit overkill but it gets a more even drybrush without looking like its drybrushed(if that makes sense) doesnt leave any brush strokes etc. might be wortha look

The gold works well with the deep purple imo, and I really like the dry brush job you did, my dry brushing is complete rubbish so i am a little jealous .

I'm not sure you should be drybrushing space marines... It's more for rough surfaces.
It still looks better than I thought it would.

You can add color back into the model by highlighting the edges of his armor with your original purple color. Like the top of the knee pad and the top edges of each section of armor plates. Honestly, this looks great for your first ever painted miniature. I can't say my first models looked as good. Keep practicing and you'll get even better.

Nice! That's a lot better than the ones you posted before, now you'e using washes and dry brushing. Good work man! Look forward to seeing more. With this kind of progress you should make a thread in the P&M Blog forum.

looks nice, it's a decent battlefield paint job. pop a nice base on it and that'll finish it off nicely.
The only thing I'd change is the melta bomb that looks like its floating by his leg.

Looks good for a first go. Though, due to the confusion, you may want to consider looking into different helms for your pre-heresy emperor's children. That helm there is a post-heresy I believe, so it's easy to confuse it with the newer loyalist chapters. That said, there are a number of conversion sites you can get pseudo-pre-heresy helms without having to go FW. Maxmini for one has some cool steam-knight heads that might fit the bill.

I for one love it. Something on the shoulder pad (chapter symbol, squad designation, or number) would not go amiss. Great coloration though!

Looks great; the colors in particular are really well defined. 2 things I would do however:
1.) Repaint the eyes with a brighter, more noticeable red. It's cool though, since I myself know how the washes really fill into the eye sockets.
2.) Drill out that bolter barrel! Be careful though that you center the drill when doing so.
